Reading the Borehamwood thread and seeing how it became a thread for the Wealdstone match and also reading of Hornette's car problems I thought a special thread for the Hornets in Ãrland was needed. Any thoughts and match comments from the lucky horde or those who can not go can be left here.
Just seen a photo of Almunia training with Alec, wonder if he will feature in the match? Have we signed him but nothing official announced yet?
Cork City official site has this to say about Watford. “Watford had a good season last season, and in Gianfranco Zola they have a manager who I expect will improve them even further. He did a great job at West Ham in the past, and I expect they will be fit and will also be an excellent side to watch. The surface at Turner’s Cross is excellent at the moment, so I expect it to be an entertaining game.”
Official #watfordfc‏@wfcbadgemoose #watfordfc 1starting XI v @corkcityfc tonight: Bond; Hodson, Taylor, Nosworthy, Pudil; Yeates, Eustace, Hogg, Abdi; Murray; Garner.
And the #watfordfc subs this evening: Almunia (GK), Bennett, Thompson, Mirfin, Dickinson, Anya, Forsyth, Jenkins, Mingoia, Whichelow, Beleck
What has happened to LD? Surely he needs warm up games? Or have I missed something? Good to see that Garner has upped his game to keep Del Piero out.
LD has been nursing an injury and was not thought to be fit enough to play. Saving himself I reckon for his game.
According to a Wobby story yesterday, the triallists had already signed, but I haven't seen anything official. Fair point about McGinn - are they going easy on him still, I wonder.
With regards to McGinn, I think we have a new medical set up now and they might have different ideas about his level of fitness.
Other than maybe the goalie, I would say the first half wouldn't be far off our starting 11, if we are playing a 4-3-3, with a fron 3 of Yeates-Garner-Murray... obviously depending on a new striker too. Still no Hall either, so wondering if there is a hold up at all, or if he is nursing a slight knock! Good to see a couple more new names though!
10' - Tame start but we've just had our first chance on goal as Sean Murray plays to Almen Abdi but he shoots wide past Cork keeper Kevin Burns.
