unless its played to perfection like barca or spain then i find more direct football more entertaining then tip tap passing anyway..
while many fans where purring over some games under pearson/barmby i was often bored to tears, balls in the mixer and shots on goal are what i want to see, not 30 passes along the back 4 on the halfway line..

I think the ideal style is how we played under Brown. With two strikers and wingers you can attack and score goals without being a long ball team. The teams that do well in this league seem to adopt that style more often than not.

I'd like to see two strikers too, it's not modern football philosopy but I find it painful to watch one up front when they are isolated and the midfield doesn't give support

This ^^^^^ is a very fair assessment of what and how Birmingham performed under Steve Bruce.

Sadly many football fans only care about the full time score. Win a crap game who cares ? Lose a good game and its all gloom and doom. I am in the former as it is a results business at the end of the day. I would happily sit through 30 x 1-0 wins.

If its as bad as last season then only hooof ball will be good enough sadly.

Bruce will have more than one game plan he always does. From 3-5-2- through to 4-5-1 and many variations on formations as possible.

I hope Bruce is given time to find his best team.

I don't really mind if we play defensively in certain matches as long as we win.

Although, it's not time to critique Bruce's style of play just yet. Give it some time.

i think there ll still be time for a few surprise 'outs', and a couple more 'ins'' to completely change last year's team dynamic. Even with the additions to date, its still not Steve's team.

From what I recall of seeing SB teams he plays what most people describe as 'direct', which some people assume is long ball, but is in fact quick straight to the point football, there may be times where it's an over the top ball but I think it'll be a case of pass pass then move forward, wings, then middle, bang & either goal of not!

Yes I agree, he signed Bent & Gyan for Sunderland, neither of whom are predominantly strong in the air but both formed a great partnership with good service from the midfield and the wings
