Membership is £40. Irrespective of how many fans Southampton will take, I believe we will only give them the top tier in the school end ie 1,800 tickets.
As regards hotels, the best offer I have received so far is from the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Hanger Lane. £90 for a twin/double room and £65 for a single room including breakfast. It is a good 4 star hotel right next to the tube station. 4 stops on the central line to White City. Not very central (especially for you Nuts) but such a hotel closer to the centre would be £120++. Will give you further details the next few days.
£40 not too bad, does that guarantee a ticket ....especially if flights are booked etc. Maybe this is what we need to do. Perhaps ask box office if block membership taken out can we get a discount...anyone a good salesman?
The membership doesn't "guarantee" a ticket but it helps. If does get you a £5 discount on your ticket and it puts you to the front of the queue, provided the game reaches general sale, which it should do. The only games which didn't reach general sale last year were the home games against the top 6 and the Arsenal away game. Is that right? I just got an email from the box office with the email address for the group bookings people. I have forwarded it on to Inked.
£65 incl breakfast for a Crowne Plaza hotel only 4 stops from White City is fantastic value, well done on finding that. I am struggling in my search for good value and time flights.
Yes Ciarrai, I think it is good value. The best I have received by far. All the others are very expensive. I have bargained them down from £100 and £70 for a twin/double and single room respectively. If anybody sees better value, please let me know.
That hotel deal sounds great Finglas. Good work. I bought a membership last wk and it gives you a chance to buy before they go on general sale, but just 1 ticket per membership i think.
Yes it i only 1 ticket per membership. I have 2 adults and 1 u16 membership too so that would guarantee another couple of tickets provided they went on general sale.
I have just updated Post 26 with Tramoreranger's requirements, hope I've understood them correctly. Crowne Plaza fine with me. Can I get a 'smoking' room, which they do seem to have? Well done Finglas.
Lads, if you can't get a group booking, membership gives you the chance to buy before tickets go on general sale. I was a member last year - you just keep an eye on your inbox and the club sends you a message when the tickets go on sale to members. If you act quickly and en masse you'll have a good chance of getting seats close to each other, if not absolutely next to each other. May not be optimal views though. Always seemed to be scattered seats available in the Upper Loft, and lots in the block next to S Africa Road, and always quite a few in the block nearest school end in Ellerslie Road ( which can be fun, if the opposition fans are lively), last season. Good luck! You also get a bag of QPR branded stuff with membership - scarf, coaster, bottle opener - crappy but might help win over the next generation of Irish Rs. Plus, we have classier owners now, so you might get classier tat.
finglas that place looks good but why so far away? theres loads of places around hammersmith and shepherds bush? re tickets. ive emailed a company that was on the box office reply. as a backup I've contacted my cousin and he's gonna put the word out amongst his mates.
I got a reply back from the agency who deals with overseas sales. they want £65 per ticket!!! now this is odd considering I was told by the box office that they haven't been allocated yet. my cousin who has "contacts" has said don't do anything yet. he'll make some calls to get the 11 tickets we need. any thoughts?
I wonder what the club thinks of that company looking for £65 for tickets. Category C games last year were £25 in silver areas of the ground. This afterall is the company recommended by the box office as their group bookings partner. I think we have 3 options now; 1. Wait for Inked's cousin to come back and see if his contacts can help us. 2. Each person going gets a membership - not ideal due to cost. 3. We tweet some of the club hierarchy and see if they can help us get tickets.
I've forwarded that onto to the box office to see will i get a reply. £65 is a bit steep and a further £20 to drop them at the hotel we're staying?? I'll try tweeting Ian Taylor and PJ Morrissey who do p.r for the club.
Almost instant reply from the box office simply stating they do not have any information on this game yet. This company is an official group bookings partner. (travelconnectionsevents.com)
Official group booking partner? Surely it is illegal to charge £65 for a ticket with a face value of less ie. £25 or whatever the face value may be? I don't mind paying the price for a ticket but to be getting ripped off by your own club via an official group booking partner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a matter of interest, is there an official, Irish QPR Supporters Club? If not, lets form one, get affiliated and get some clout. We're pussyfooting with the Club and they'll continue to let that happen until we can get some clout. Or to put it in Belfastspeak, lets stop xxcking around here. No offence intended to anyone.
the Irish qpr site iqpr.org is useless no-one uses it anymore. there used to group of fans that went over years ago. the guys name was greg o keefe from cork. I've no idea if it's still going or where he is now.
I've e-mailed the Club, I'm phoning them tomorrow to follow up. I hear what you are saying but as things have changed radically at the Club in recent times, perhaps its worth giving this a shot. Any affiliated Supporters Clubs I've known, have been able to make arrangements directly with the Club and get tickets. Presumably we'll have to convince we're not xxckheads and we have a set up of sorts. Christ, come to think of it, Swords could be Honorary President.
