There was a match between City and Oldham at the Cottingham training ground today. May I just say - I talked to Robert Koren and he assured me he was staying here. City Team Amos - Jakupovic East - Trialist 14 Chester - Cooper Bradley Dawson - Dudgeon Mckenna - Devitt Cairney Stewart - ***an Koren - Aluko Proschwitz - Cullen Simpon - McLean Score City 1-0 Oldham Aluko scoring from 30 yards (great goal) Also, Craig ***an was playing and did set up Aluko's goal I talked to Big Oli and he said he is number 16 and Dawson said he is number 3
Is this genuine - ***an was playing?!? And I also love it when people ask players questions such as 'are you staying with us?'. What exactly is he likely to say? "Well, the club has an agreed media line on this that they dont want me to go and that I want reasurrances of where the club is heading in terms of ambition and I've no idea who you are but - sod it - nah Im leaving mate for more money from Lester, Im getting on a bit you see and Ive probably got one last signing on fee in me. But keep it to yourself wont you?"
I heard someone say at Brid on Saturday that ***an is on trial with us, whereas I just assumed he was training with us. Are we actually considering re-signing him?
Actually when players are looking to leave they might say "It's all speculation" or "I have no plans to leave" or "I'm happy here" or "Lets wait and see". If they say things like "I'm not leaving" or "I'm staying here" then that is usually what they mean.
Alan Fettis told me he wasn't going to leave us the week before he went to Forest. Still hurt by the treachery
He said he loves the ideas of the new manager so he really wants to stay he was with Proschwitz who agreed with Koren and said the same thing, likewise Aluko
Why Oldham are the team that ruined Hull City's future: At the end of the 1909-1910 season (second division) City had been in the second promotion position (only two went up then) for the three preceding games before the last game of the season against Oldham (away). A draw or even a tight defeat would have seen us up into the first division and the whole history of HCAFC might have been different. Unfortunately they beat us 3-0 and took our promotion place by 0.29 (of a goal) difference. To rub salt into the wounds the scorer of their second goal was one Alf Toward. It was his 13th goal after we sold him to them at the start of the season. After that we never got as close again until Deano finally got us there a hundred years later.
