I don't think Levy will be bullied but he is a business man first and foremost. He's already lost 10 million by not selling Modric last year, is he going to risk another 5-10 million by keeping an unhappy player past this window? I can't see it.
Agree with the logic, hope it comes off because they are both very close to being really top players.
I don't think he lost £10 million on Modric, because (a) no one came in with a serious bid of £40 million, and (b) Levy made it clear that Modric was not for sale at any price. Bearing in mind that Modric helped us make 4th spot, that was probably the correct thing for Levy to have done. So, even if it did cost Spurs £10 million (which I doubt), Levy would probably tell you that it was worth it. Modric is over-priced at £30 million, and if we can get that for him, we'll be laughing. Levy holding out for more is not him saying that Modric is worth that, it's him telling clubs that he's only prepared to let him go if some club is desperate enough to pay silly money for him. It's what all clubs do with their star players.
I thought we'd bid 40 million on aug 31st last year? I agree Levy will hold out for best deal but it may end up resulting in a late sale and that means it's even harder to get replacements. I always think the earlier business is done the better especially for the seller.
