The FA have charged him with posting comments on Twitter that amounted to "improper conduct and/or which brought the game into disrepute, which included a reference to ethnic origin, faith or race". He called a Spurs fan a "scum Yid" after the idiot had said that he'd prayed for Frimpong to break his arms and legs. Objectionable behaviour from both, but I doubt the player was actually trying to be bigoted.
Like I've said before, if Frimpong didn't spend all his time being silly on Twitter, not many Arsenal fans would even care to remember his name. Yet after a few disastrous starts for the first team some still say he'll be "one for the future"... wtf? He'll be off to a championship club soon enough.
Frimpong has passion and desire for his club, something a certain captain is currently lacking - qualities that are rare to find in the game today. Qualities that make up for a lack in technical ability and footballing brain. Look at Arshavin, technically gifted but lazy as hell. Rather have a few more Frimpong's in my team than Arshavin's
This is exactly the reason that footballers should stay of twitter in my opinion. They are always going to get abuse from fans of opposing teams, they could have 10000 tweets about innocent everyday stuff, but as soon as 1 tweet is slightly politically incorrect, they will get panned. If frimpong was just your average guy working in a shop and someone said that to him, would anyone care what he said back to the guy? Of course not, Jesus the amount of racist and politically incorrect thing I have seen some friends and friends of friends post on facebook, and no one give a dam, but when its a PL footballer everyone is just waiting for you to step over the line. If any of these footballers had any intelligence they would stay of twitter.
Does he? He just strikes me as a bit of a fool. All this 'you've been Frimponged' bollocks just seems to mean him trying to hurt someone and putting himself out for a couple months in the process.
I vote we stop using the term 'yids' when referring to the spuds from now on and use a new, more appropriate one instead. 'Mongs' it is then
A nonsense charge, he obviously thought it was a commonly used word for a Spurs fan which is a fair assumption as they call themselves 'yid army' and that's the line of defence he should take... BUT he shouldn't be getting involved in arguments with people on Twitter!
As a spur... 1) the moron who tweeted that he was praying that frimpong broke his leg is an embarrassment to spurs fans 2) Frimpong was and idiot to respond like that...better ignore him. 3) Twitter is a weird arse place full of pratts and if you ain't a teen you should be old enough to know better
Frimpong is a kid, he reacted to a personal provocation and as a professional he should have known better. Arsenal fined him £20k and that should have been the end of the matter, dealt with internally and correctly. The FA should have spoken to Arsenal and Frimpong privately and left it at that. As for the comment that 'he'll be playing in the championship' - utter bollocks I'm afraid. The kid has got bags of talent and will be a big Arsenal star in the future, but he needs to knock that twitter crap on the head, and stop retaliating to scummy yids
