Signings I'd be happy with (being realistic)

Probably a better chance of us singing no one or someone unproven/too young

At the moment Wenger has ruled out signing a "box to box" player but with the uncertainty over Wilshere and the obvious pessimism over Diaby I can see that changing but lets presume he doesn't for now although I think Coquelin has massive potential and hopefully Frimpong can make a comeback mid season

    >>Santi Cazorla - Really think this could be a massive signing and the signs look good now but as an Arsenal fan you know its never that simple.
*He's experienced at 27 years old
*Loyal...he made comments about not joining Barca or Madrid due to the duopoly they have
*Adaptable...can play in the central/hole or out wide on either wing
*We dont have another player like this
    *Fantastic set piece taker

    >>M'Baye Niang - Ok so this guy is unproven and too young but he reminds me of Anelka when he first joined, RVP will leave but we only play with 1 up front so thought to sign someone who will be on the bench alot at this guy looks like he has alot of raw talent

    >>Craig Gordon - FREE Transfer so Wenger would love this, none of our other goalies are good enough so I'd take a punt on him

Considering our defence was SOOO weak last year surprised we haven't been linked with more defenders...Sagna is out for a while and Mertersaker was very shaky last year

Not keen on M'Baye Niang. Seems a pointless signing what with...

Giroud, Podolski, Chamakh, Walcott and the young Campbell and Afobe in our ranks.

Santi Cazorla was excellent last year though for Malaga - think he'd be a great addition.

Also Craig Gordon is a good keeper MUCH better than the frighteningly inconsistant Fabianski, so yeah he'd be another good addition.

If Craig Gordon is so good, why is he available on a free transfer? Very injury prone, capable of great saves, but can be very average. Was dropped by Sunderland at one point. Not sure he represents a huge upgrade from Fabianski or Martinez.

I don't have a problem with Niang, but he will not go into the first team this year, he is one for the future. Generally speaking, if our scouts (and the Boss) like him then that's good enough for me.

Cazorla is an interesting one. A little older than we are used to. We could probably do with another wide forward. Really only one good season though, but maybe if he is a bargain. I just wonder how many games he will get, and whether a 27 year old trying to break into the Spanish team would come to Arsenal to sit on the bench.

    That's just stupid...

    Sol Campbell
    Matthew Flamini
    Peter Schmeichel
    Luis Figo (to Inter)
    Ruud Gullit etc... etc...

Good players leave on Free transfers all the time!

Top goalkeepers don't move on a free at 29. Particularly when there is a stunning silence from clubs about signing them.

Honestly, likening Gordon to Figo, you must think I'm stupid...

Well theres one quote that wenger had today that almost noone has picked up on yet...

"We are not close to signing Cazorla. We are still working that out," Wenger told reporters immediately after the match in the capital Kuala Lumpur.

I got this from supersport...which Ive never heard of, but it is a quote, so I think its true.

The fact that he said "We are still working that out" means that I think its true -- we are after Cazorla...and we can only hope he signs.

Most of them chose to run down their contracts though. Gordon wasn't offered a new one.

Gordon left because Sunderland were paying him ****loads when he got injured all the time and they have two other perfectly capable keepers, of course they weren't going to keep the highest paid and least reliable one. His release was nothing to do with a lack of ability.

    How about Kaka?
Real Madrid are looking to offload him.

If we don't manage to sign Cazorla, I reckon that Kaka would be an excellent addition.
