Banner ad, right across the top of the thread menu. I've seen it a few times, it's been here for ages. I just assumed the website by run by pool-haters / mancs, and there's nothing we can do about it. Not happy myself, it's a filthy rag.:steam:

  4. No idea what you mean, I can't see a banner / advert anywhere <ok>

Edit: but agree with you both if there is one <ok>

It comes and goes. And you can only see it if you are viewing the page logged off (as a visitor). I was fuming first time I saw it. Highly inappropriate.

Is annoying but the owner of the site obviously isn't a Liverpool fan so will take any site sponsors they can. Unlikely you can change it depending on which club you click on etc.

Best thing to do is click on it about a hundred times and close it cos don't they get charged per click? :)

I'd be less offended if an advert for "your gran and my horse" magazine came up. I have no idea if there is such a publication but if there was, I wouldn't want to see it.

It's not the owners fault that The Sun's ad appears in the Liverpool forum. They use a company called "ad choices" who are told what the forum is about and they advertise based on that criteria. A huge amount of football fans (wrongly) ready The Sun Newspaper so it's going to appear (Ad choices do not look at the specifics of the forum). There's not much we can do except sign up as a member to avoid the ads as Mick has a right to want to earn money as he is essentially providing us with a free platform to discuss our club

  10. The advertising that comes up on Facebook is relevant to what is in your recent history. So, for example, if you searched for football boots (some of you will know I did this very recently) then football boots are advertised on the right hand side. Why can't this site implement something like that? Least the adverts are always relevant to the individual then <ok>

That's facebook, the largest social website and one of the richest in the world.

  13. True, but they still get paid to display adverts and it is ultimately just a bit of programming <ok>

True but facebook have their own developers and have free reign to make whatever changes they want. This forum is designed by Vbulletin (It has a skin on it to make it look slightly different) - It's their framework with a skin added to it at forum and sub-forum levels. All Mick has done is uploaded a bunch of PHP files on to his web server which were designed by Vbulletin and then added some mods (probably downloaded for free from a mod/hack site - there are loads out there)

For advertising he has to be warey of not taking out too much of the forum and ensuring that it does not appear on members accounts, the only way to do this is either through Ad-words or Google Ads and both would bring up The Sun

Heck even Facebook tries to get me to 'Like' The Sun and I'm a member of a HJC group, I have that I support Liverpool and virtually every status is Liverpool related (Twitter are bad for it too)

Never seen it, but I do use Chrome with ad-block, if that makes a difference.

You use the internet; you can get ad-block.

If you look for solutions they can usually be found <ok>

It's possible to report an ad for being offensive as well. You have to deal directly with the ad company but they might be tough to deal with.

I really don't mind, I'm always logged in and I use Ad-Block, Ghostery and No-Script while browsing. I see ads less often than Owen sees the pitch.
