I am fine with Varney as a squad player, a 34 year old Gray doesn't do anything for me and I would prefer to give Poleon a chance or dip into the loan market if things got so bad we had to use him. Just another thought... Crainie - I assume he won't be signing as surely he would have been given a contract at the same time or does NW need to see more of him??
Morning all Varney may just impress a few of you out on the wing If your judging him purely on stats for the last few seasons I can see why you are disapointed. Good winger IMO As for Gray, he wants to be here he's fighting fit, he's cover & he will be on a low wage. No problem with that either Austin looks the real deal, but lets see if he can hack the English game. Could be the new David Batty! Happy to have Ashdown on the bench over Rackuba or Cairnes so good business all round by Warnock. Throw in the major signings Warnock has hinted about and we are up and running. our backline looks as solid as anyones with the possibilty of a RB still to come in
Bucks, how many wingers do we need? I know Sam's gone, but we still have Rodgers, & Snoddy for the moment at least. We have White, who is either a LB or LW. There's at least 1 or possibly 2 others.
Need two each side ideally. Wouldn't be surprised seeing Snod in the hole behind a loan striker this term. Seems to be the Warnock way even though I think he is more affective on the wing. Not sure if Rogers is going to be good enough either, purely because I havent seen enough of him Peltier? Well that would just strengthen the backline more
Ex Hudders RB at Leciester. Didn't set the world alight in the Leicester team but Bamba & St Ledger struggled as well and I rate them!
Papa Smurf did talk about the need to trim the squad. Seems as though its getting larger by the day. Any news on any further outgoings?
In that Bucks, I'm sure you're right. But we need to keep the size of squad in check, otherwise it gets too unwieldy & disorgaanised; the opportunity for too many changes. Never a settled side etc. Anyway, I await the opening game of the season with a bit more enthusiasm than was the case a week or two ago. Austin & Brown in the centre of midfield is a mouthwatering prospect.
I agree fella Still if we haven't got the urgency to get rid of players before we get players in Warnock will know its vital to get his men in ASAP and then see the outgoings complete in good time
The possibility of this: ----------------------Kenny Peltier-----------Lees--------Pearce-----------Drury/White ----------------Austin--------Green Snodgrass-----------McGugan----------------White/Templeton ---------------------Becchio Has me pretty excited.
I have to agree. It was strange how White suddenly signed a new contract followed by four quick signings and a £1M bid turned down for Maynard all by a team that weeks earlier couldn't afford £400K for Ward. Before anyone says he wanted the London move please read Warnocks comments and how he nearly quite over it all. Take out McGugan and pop Snoddy in there with a pacey right winger and I would agree
Would answer the question why Cranie wasn't offered a contract at the same time as Gray. Peltier first choice Lee's as back up would we need Crainie? Maybe another CB is being looked at??
I heard he had played more matches at RB? Anyone know where Warnock started/played him in the two friendlies?
Cov fans certainly say CB's his first choice position, and in fact debate who's better between him and Keogh. Certainly worth a pop IMO when your immediate back-up is Paddy Kisnorbo and... no-one else.
Looking at when he played and who was in the team I would say RB. I think Keogh kept him out of CB that slot at Coventry though forcing him to play RB? I maybe wrong, but no shame in being second best to Keogh and still good enough to play out of position.
