You cannot take back what isnt in the pot....If the Allams pulled out now they will lose the money end of.
Ok, If the Allams pulled out before we get into the PL and stay there a while they will lose the lot.
I think only Bartlett in living memory has walked away 'empty handed' having put a few bob in. All the others before him, Needler, Lloyd etc always made sure they left with a substantial souvenir. Time will tell- but the Allams don't appear to be they type of businessmen to walk away, leaving their money behind. There are ways of means of 'giving' money to football clubs.....and the word 'give' can be misleading.
I think Steve Bruce will be gone if we don't get promotion. If we finish outside the playoffs, he will probably be sacked, if he manages to get us to the playoffs but we don't get through then he will go to one of the lower Premier League clubs. Think he will stay if we get promoted. _____________________________________________________________________________________ KINGSELLER WORLD OF COLLECTABLES www.kingseller.org.uk
I miss NB as a player but I don't miss him as a manager as I don't believe he was the right man for the job - it was too soon. I'd take NB back in a heartbeat to have in the first team squad as I think he's a fantastic role model for the younger players. AP may have made some mistakes but the simple fact is, without him we probably wouldn't even have a club. That goes for the first and second time he was involved and whatever his reasons were for being involved he still did a bloody good job. The club has evolved and so have the players and the staff - it's just the way football works. I miss lots of things about the past - I do miss Brownie and Duffen, I miss Boothferry Park and the experiences of being a Tiger through the 90's and AP and NB will just become part of those memories.
Nice to see the usual suspects having their biased contributions. We can go over the same ground again, as for the comment about Pearson having 3 goes to get a manager to replace one who should never have been sacked - remind us was Bruce available when Pearson was appointed (Pearson is a proven championship manager and who knows where we could have been come the end of the season, if he had not been seduced by Leicester, so he was hardly a failure as a manager). As for the Dowie appointment - would have been interesting to see fan's views on Brown if he had been the manager when (as it was when not if) we got relegated. Barmby was a risk - and perhaps he should have started off as assistant. And to people like TWF, may I give you one quote "let him who doesn't maketh any mistakes in life, cast the first stone" - ie stop harping on about the few mistakes Pearson made because he got rid of your "hero" brown. I make mistakes and I'm certain you have made a few in your life
Think AP did a great job dragging City from Division 4 to Division 2 and when he left we had a bit of money in the bank. Maybe without AP we would not have got out if division 4 and 3 Seems to have had a big roll in Bringing the Allams in ? Helped get rid of some high earners . I dont see that many bad points about AP.. AP and PT ... Good times. Thought when he took over at FC he wouldn't stay on. Nicky B , if he had been our super sub last season I bet his extra goals would have got us into the play offs.. I would not have given him the managers job , but what would I know. What I do think and always have done is we have fantastic owners . And we now have a really good manager. Can't wait for the season to start and I am sure we have a great chance of a play off place.. Automatic promotion ? Who knows I think only a fool would think that's nailed on for any team. Very happy with how things are . More so then if Nicky B was still our manager.. Though I would have been ok with that.. I don't see one thing for City supporters to moan about but many things to be excited about.
I have no doubt that we are better placed for promotion under Steve Bruce than we would have been under Nick barmby. That said I was sad to see him go but these things happen and if we go up this season, nobody can argue with the sacking of Barmby & Pearson.
How the hell people can slag off Adam Pearson is beyond me. The game saved us, when no one else would touch with a barge pole. He put money into the club and we got success. Okay he always get the manager changes right, like sacking Little to early, appointing Molby and Parkinson. The guy left a cushy job at Derby to come back and did a great job reducing the wage bill and sorting the club, he also played a big part of getting the Allams. I felt alot safer with AP on the board, I feel Allams could easierly do something daft. With regards to Barmby, I would never have let him go. I think he'd of do a fantasic job for this football club, he of got the whole club playing the same way and improved the Academy. I really can't see SB being here long term. Wouldn't supprise me if he's not here this time next summer.
We should be forever grateful to AP for his work at City but his track record of appointing managers wasn't great. Apart from Dowie, let's not forget Molby and Parkinson.
I would never slag Adam Pearson off but I do think in order to get out of this division, we were right to get rid of him. There is no doubt that AP has a big place fo hull city in his heart but to fulfil the fans ambitions of geting back in the premier league, we are going to have to take risks. I don't think AP would ever have gone for Steve Bruce and he certainly would not spend £2.6m on one striker. Rightly or wrongly, The Allams have taken it on themselves to run this club and try to push it forward. Lets see if we are missing Nick & Adam come May
Changed a few words in that famous quote from Jesus, BCC. was the best reposte I could come up with to people who want to dug as much as they can to find stuff to slag off a former employee because they happen to have a personal hatred of him.
I don't like the way Barmby's been almost removed from the Club. I don't think the Allams should have ever offered him the job permanently. Don't get me wrong, I was one of those thinking that having a local lad in charge would be brilliant but thinking about it, they should have just given him a player/manager role until the end of the Year and then should something like what happened - happen - then he can just step down to player again. I thought Barmby was a great role model for the younger players. Shame he's gone the way he has.
