.......but I just wonder if we may see a new SWP next season. I am basing this on some scant evidence. 1) The goal that was disallowed that should have stood. 2) he is still fast 3) his pass landed on Lescott's head for the flick on for Cisse's 1st goal. 4) MH will get the very best out of him. I just have a hunch that we may see a rejuvenated SWP this season. I would welcome that.
I agree......what ive seen of him in pre-season, he is looking sharpe. Would love him to come good...not least of all because of the money we are spending on him!
You may well be right but: 1.) that was one shot of dozens, most of which were attempted with someone standing a yard away and directly blocking the goal. 2.) reasonably fast, certainly not in the same league as Bale, Agbonlahor and the like. 3.) he lumped the ball up in the air and 99 times out of 100 it would have been cleared and we'd have bemoaned a ****, lazy hook into the air. 4.) he didn't get the best out of him in half a season last year and Mackie rightly took his place. He did score against a Malaysian pub team in a friendly the other day though.
I think and always have that he is talent and I want praise from Pork as again I have backed the winner
Again? You've not backed one yet. As it happens, I wanted to keep him and think he might be alright this season. He couldn't be any worse.
I hope he comes good, but all games bar one (his debut) he was terrible last season - not just for half of it. I dont hold much belief in him at the moment, but hopefully he can prove me wrong.
He was immense against Norwich as we fought to hold on to name 1. Easy to get blinkered but don't disagree he massively under performed on the whole.
SWP just looks half decent (and tall compared to the locals) when playing in SE Asia. He's neither. Sell.
Bellamy and Hoilett on either wing will be more interesting!...SWP just never drops his shoulder or tries a step over,etc..hes sooo readable for a defender. Better options coming in.
In my opinion he is just not good enough,he's a winger that cannot beat a fullback and cannot cross a ball.would we have a striker in our team that couldn't score a goal,or a keeper that couldn't save a shot? he had more than enough chances last season to make a mark and he failed miserably.4th choice rm at best.
Give him until January and if still ****e sell him on. I also suspect we will see a rejuvenated swp this year under Hughes.
One thing I learnt about SWP whilst at Chelsea is that he never has an average game. He is either a world beater or extremely poor. Very much a confidence player that needs a good run of games. I still think he could offer you something personally
