On the last thread about where City would finish I am proud to say I was the only one who said 'top' and I'm sticking to it. Yay for me!!
I don't think we have ever gone into a season with so many fans talking about us winning the league! I think we are still a little bit away from making it to the top of the table, with a few more key additions i think we have a chance to make it to the top of the table. We still need some cover on the wings and in defence as well as maybe another right back. All this depends on no-one leaving to.
It does seem like a few people are getting carried away. I can see a few gripes coming when we dont win every game as per usual!
I'm trying to figure out who the next scapegoat is going to be... it was Hobbs for a while somehow! I bet he couldn't do anything wrong if he tried now! If Olofinjana plays it'll be him I reckon. Completely unfounded criticism most of the time. I remember when Garcia got regularly slated in the prem seasons and he only had a couple of BAD games. He was at least standard most of the time. Then there were a few calling out for him to play this season. Just an example of how quickly people change their minds on here. The Barmby thread's annoying me too. The majority don't seem too fussed about him getting the sack now, yet at the time it was a big deal for most posters. If that thread gets re-posted if we have a bad start to this season, most will say we never should've got rid.
going to wait until proshwitz settles in, never agreed with a manager more then when bruce said he judges a team on there strikers, exactly the same with me, whenever we play somebody im not bothered who they have in midfield or defence just up front, they make or break teams at this level...
i dont usually bet on city because im happy enoiugh if they win anyway, and it doubles the disappointment when they do **** if i lose cash as well, 33/1 is generous tho, might be worth a crafty fiver.
Garcia might have only had 2 bad games in the PL but he had a lot more terrible ones. The fact he got stick for it was ridiculous, he was playing out of position and clearly not suited to what he was being asked to do, but it doesn't change the fact the performances were nowhere near the level required. And people last season were calling out for him to play right wing in the Championship, not up front in the PL. A change of division does make changing assessments of players a fair thing to do.
I think we may avoid relegation.. but as for winning the league it's a bit far fetched.. there aren't any stand out contenders like WHU last term.. although I don't expect the Posh or Millwall to be vying for the PL any time soon.
I think City will be top half at minimum. With the current squad, ambition and backroom staff, I reckon we'll be battling play offs all Season. It comes down to whether or not the players we have can actually stick to it all Season and not go through another dismal run like the Southampton/Leicester/Coventry/Millwall/Portsmouth consecutive defeats like last Season. AND whether the team can actually score. TWT
We have a decent chance of a top 6 finish , as have half the teams in this league .. Having a chance is good enough for me .
