Seems that way doesnt it haha!! no just a co-incidence that two players i think would be perfect for what were lacking happened to have played for them recently.
He is a left back. After being out on loan @ Grimsby last season and looking at him so far, once the season gets going and everyone is fit i would expect Conor Townsend to go out on loan again. Maybe too a club like Doncaster, Sheffield Utd or Coventry would be just about perfect. Conor needs another season out on loan but at 2 levels higher than Grimsby imo and at a good club. CT is the perfect long term replacement for Andy Dawson though imo. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Bristol City linked with Cardiff City League Cup GK Tom Heaton after TH ripped up his contract with Watford after the Sean Dyche sacking. Middlesboro have been linked with Doncaster defender George Friend. Udders manager Simon Grayson confirms that No serious bids have been tabled for Jordan Rhodes so far. Cardiff Citys summer recruitement looks to be focussing on the Asian market,, well so far at least. Colin @ TWS says that he wants to make at least 8 yes 8 new signings to his squad. Gareth Southgate has quit the FA's school of excellance and is rumoured to be favourite for the Crawley Town job.
From a subject basis I'd agree and would have unstuck the big transfers one ahead of this, but I was looking more at what each one being a sticky was actually doing. Olympics - will stop a lot of O/T threads in the next few weeks by keeping everything together like the Euros one did. Given we have people that complain about even a single O/T thread not having the OT on it even when the thread title is obvious I don't fancy having a board full of them, especially at a time when there's not much happening because our transfers are done and it's a couple of weeks before the season starts. Now if someone posts a seperate thread we can just merge it into the main one. Rules/Help and History - obvious reasons to keep both of those at the top of the board, and they can't survive up there just on the posts being made on them from one day to the next (well, History might). Big transfers - keeps down the number of semi-O/T threads we'd be having, and encourages the discussion where if it was seperate threads there'd be people reluctant to because of people moaning about it having nothing to do with City. City transfers - theoretically keeps all the rumours together, but in practice we still get seperate threads on them. Plus, given the signings we're making and being linked with they should be on the big transfers thread anyway.
It's weird you've done that. That's two of you just suggested what are basically (if we're talking first team football) SPL wingers we should sign that we've actually been linked with in previous transfer windows.
I wont claim to be in the know haha!!!! Heard of Driver, Tommy, but ain't seen a lot of him. Gone a bit quiet on the old transfer front. Got an inkling it may just be loanee's now. Do we still need Michael Keane now we've signed Faye? Tunnicliffe still an option?? Wouldnt mind Petrucci or Larnell Cole from our United link as back up for Koren
I'm assuming Faye will start next to Chester until Hobbs comes back and then move into CM? Still think we need someone with a bit if grit in midfield, McKenna is great, but not as physical as the likes of Ashbee.
It depends on tactics really. If we're having 4 at the back then we can probably get away without signing him until Hobbs gets back from his injury. We'd just be hoping that Faye and Rosenior didn't get injured at the same time until then as McShane would be cover for right back and as the tall centre back. Keane could come in and offer cover as right back (he's a bit short and we've got Cooper to cover the short arse centre back role) which would be helpful. If Bruce wants to try 3 centre backs then I'd say we still need to bring a defender in. Obviously if Keane was available on loan with a view to a permanent I'd take him whether we needed him now or not. We've got McShane, Faye, Rosenior, and Dawson all out of contract next summer, so particularly with the first two if we can bring in their long term replacements nice and early it'll mean we can see how they settle in and make sure it's all good before we sign them, plus then next season there won't be any time needed for them to gel.
Unless that actually happens I'd forget about it. It's all based on Ferriby where we played a 3-5-2, but with a total lack of wingers and full backs it was probably nothing more than a temporary measure to get 11 players on the pitch. We only did it for half a game and we looked pretty crap anyway.
Looks like Snodgrass is on his way... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/7931641/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed
Can't believe there's some optimistic Leeds fans at the moment, the way some of their fans are rationalising signing Andy Gray is basically the exact same way we tried with adebola, in midfield they've lost Howson, Snodgrass, Delph (returned to Villa), Clayton that I can think of, they've so far been replaced with the unknown Rudolph Austin (who could be brilliant or crap) and that's it! they're apparently selling McCormack (top scorer) and so far have bought Varney and Gray. If they don't get taken over they're ****ed!! Though they've always got Paynter...
Wonder if Chelsea would let us loan Thorgan Hazard for the season? Apparently a loan would be considered to help aid his development and he "can play in a wide range of attacking positions."
They do seem to be desperately looking for positives, when on the face of it, there are very few positives going on. That said, I'd have quite liked us to go for Austin, I like the look of him.
I'd be worried that the whole process is taking far too long. I think every report i've read on it is that it is an investment rather than a takeover. If it is an investment then surely Bates will still control things? I think it's highly unlikely to be simply an investment rather than a takeover, but I'm just surprised that it is being reported as being such.
Off Football Rumours:- 24 Jul 2012 22:05:27 Bristol city will sign Liverpools Danny Wilson on a season long loan before the end of July. Tom Heaton will be unveiled as Citys 3rd summer signing either tomorrow or Thursday. The Buzsacky deal has stalled, Forrest have opted to look elsewhere but Hull are rumoured to be intrested. Alot of Tom Bradshaw of Shrewsbury rumours floating around as well.
Highly doubt it'll happen then. Football-rumours is literally just that... rumour. However this is interesting from Twitter BBC Humberside Sport ‏@HumbersideSport #hcafc are on the brink of another signing. The latest @RadioHumberside 0625, 0725 & 0825.
