I think he lost to the tune of £7M if memory serves me correctly.

On Modric, he needs a good kick up the arse and a loan to Cowdenbeath. That could set him straight.

why would a club spend £30-40m on a player with such a poor attitude? this mercenary has shown his true colours and is behaving like a spoilt little brat. i hope you dont back down and get the fee you want..<ok>

For what it's worth, Goal.com is reporting that he's also ignored the order to attend training, and has in fact buggered off back to Croatia. Levy is said to be apoplectic!..

Looks like we won't get the fee we want and he won't get the move he wants either.

I notice young Brazilians coming through have a much healthier attitude to getting a move. In interviews Oscar, Damiao, Neymar, Ganso and a host of others have all told the press how they're in no rush to leave and happy to wait. Admittedly Luka's older but at this stage of his career he's got atleast 6 or so years in him so why waste time arguing with the club that has supported him ever since he joined because of the mistakes he made in signing a longterm deal with no get out? Maybe it's just Luka who's spoilt, or the boys in Brazil just have better agents.

He's not doing himself any favours here because it's as Swamp says, who will sign him with sort of attitude? He's right for Spurs,I said it last season. I don't think he'd fit Chelsea,Utd or even Madrid and he's making it more difficult for himself. Levy apoplectic? Where's Apoplectia,I've never heard of it,is it near Croatia?

What's annoying is that Modric's refusal to travel is a good bet to hurt both himself and Spurs, and looks to be just plain stupid. I'm undecided what to do, since all options seem so objectionable at this point.

The ridiculous part is that he expects this will speed up the transfer, yet our chairman and manager are both on the other side of the Atlantic!

I think he should reconsider whether he should leave Spurs because for me he's us through and through. But if he genuinely wants to leave then he should go and it's his funeral. VDV agrees about going to Madrid,he'd be making a mistake.

This is the worst line in the article posted above:

My heart bleeds for you Luka, it really does <doh>

You know what Luka - you need to man up, grow a pair and do what you're paid (very handsomely at that) to do. If any 'normal' person threw their toys out of their pram like this at their job, they'd not only be fired, they'd wreck any chance of getting a future job.

It's a very difficult one. I totally understand Levy's point of view and also the fact it sends a precedent that you can act like this and you get your "dream" move. However we need to get this resolved and move on. The season is fast approaching and so far we have no replacement lined up for Modric. We have one proven recognised striker and a 40+ year old goalkeeper with not many great alternatives.
I really don't want a repeat of the Berbatov incident where our form suffered horrendously and it was weeks into the season until we began to recover.
It's a lovely thought to send him to rot in some crappy old team but realistically you aren't going to write off £30 million just to get back at him for acting like a c u next tuesday. If it were me I would settle on £30 million and concentrate on finalising deals for the other areas of the team that we are looking worryingly weak. We don't want to mirror Arsenal of last year with their last minute panic buys.

Yeah I agree - I really really dislike Luka for what he's doing but at the end of the day, the team is far more important and I'm sure Levy is well aware of this.

I can see both sides to it.

I can understand Luka's anger. He wanted to go a year ago, but kept his head down and was your best player last season. He now (rightfully IMO) feels he is being priced out of a move.

However he is poorly advised, he is contracted to Spurs and has to do a job. His agent has clearly told him to strike to lower his value but Levy might just dig his heels in so it could backfire.

I personally think you should let him go, this is cancerous to your club. G*llas wrecked our pre-season when he did the same but worse, if you don't want the same to happen to you just sell him and use the money for Moutinho
