Junior aspirin: Massive fee would ease the pain of losing Hoilett to QPR says Kean

Blackburn Rovers contract rebel will not be moving without the thick end of £6million changing hands – or some sort of swap involving Jamie Mackie

Constipation: Blackburn's wantaway Canadian striker David Junior Hoilett wants to get things moving Getty
QPR will have to pay a big fee for Junior Hoilett as Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean stands firm on his contract rebel.

Mark Hughes’ men are set to confirm the signing of Canadian attacker Hoilett despite live interest from German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

But Kean warned there will be a big tribunal demand - over £6 million - from Rovers if they cannot agree a fee or get an agreement to take top target Jamie Mackie in exchange.

Compo: Steve Kean would seek tribunal payout for Blackburn over Junior Hoilett
    Getty

Kean said: “QPR might make us an offer, if not it might go to a tribunal. We were always hopeful he would go to a club here because the compensation would be greater.

“Manchester City got a chunky figure when Daniel Sturridge went to Chelsea. We have had Junior for a long time and we developed him and put a lot of time and effort into him.

“I am sure that will be reflected when the time comes.”

Kean wants Mackie as part of the deal but admitted it would be a fight and said: “There are plenty of good players down there. But we are finding out that clubs like to keep their best players.”

Rovers are also unhappy with Hoilett for leaving without saying a word, only finding out about his medical at QPR second hand.

Hoilett was brought to England by Blackburn as a kid and put through school before becoming a first-team player after a lengthy work permit battle.

Kean said: “We feel we have been a big part of his development. It would have been nice to get a call.

“We had monthly meetings with his dad and he said he was keeping his options open. His dad is his agent and has been all around the world looking for offers.”

    ***************************************************************************

I say let it go to a tribunal - Rangers are holding all the aces...Blackburn have no right to dictate terms, as its their
player that wants to leave, not ours...

Completely agree, not to mention their claim of £6 million will get dismissed straight out of hand. As I understand it, with Hoilett as a free agent, Blackburn have no control over who he moves to and the only they can do is to ask a tribunal to set a fee. With Sturridge, City recieved £3.5 million I believe. Blackburn can dream they will get the £6 million they want, but they wont. Just let Hoilett join and Kean have his strop in the corner. As for the Mackie swap, why would we want to let a proven goalscorer and a player who is the definition of supersub go? I also would doubt Mackie would want to drop a division and to go the club where he suffered a potentially career threatening injury and got given a less than sympathetic reaction as he had to leave the pitch

Stan I'm inclined to agree with you. The figure of compensation appears to be continuously increasing! I don't warm to Steve Kean at all by the way - his public comments attempting to undermine other teams (namely us) towards the end of last season show the depths to which he'll stoop... he seems to be a person who'll use any means (the press as a prominent example) to get what he wants - I don't have much respect for people like that in sports, just do your talking on the playing field if you don't mind? Oh wait, you tried and got relegated...

Who did he have to send to find that out, MI5?

The guy honestly ain't got a clue. And to think people were having a go at the Blackburn fans last year for getting on his back? Its a wonder they didn't shoot him.

    (Thank's for the article Stan)

Superdoopa had forgotten about the horrific injury JM suffered there...

The Blackburn Boss must be a complete headcase, if he thinks BLACKBURN can control the transfer. There's also strong rumours Scott Dann will also be subject to a move away from the club, along with Steven Nzonzi...Plus Steve Kean is also being sued by Sam Allardyce in regards to coments about SA that was filmed in some hotel bar a number of months ago...SK is obviously doing a G4S in the
    diplomacy stakes...

    Why give Kean £6m?

    He'd only waste it.

He can join who he likes and Blackburn have no say in the fee. If they want £6 million it'll go to tribunal and £4 million is likely to be top dollar. Mackie would be off his head wanting to go there with all the protests etc, I think Kean could be on his way out if they don't make a flying start...

Of course he wants a lot of cash. Those chicken farmers aren't giving him any.

Won't the tribunal take into account the fact that Kean f***ed up his future by getting them relegated?

I see Kean is still deluded as ever. No wonder the Blackburn fans think that he is an idiot.

Kean is just trying to put figure into any possible tribunals minds. He'll obviously be looking for as much as possible, but as has already been mentioned, it's out of his hands.

Maybe he needs the money for court fees and compensation after big bad Sam served him with a writ for calling him ****ing Crook! Which is ironic really as it's the most truthful thing he's ever said....
