I really think footballers don't live in the real world and haven't for years. Just read in todays Sun on Sunday that Van Persie is DEMANDING in excess of £10 million a year wages. We have clubs going to the walls all over the place and hard core supporters being priced out of watching matches. Who do these people think help pay their wages because once they've stopped going there will not be sufficient " prawn sandwich brigade " to compensate.
I am just glad we are not following pathetic clubs like Citeh, Chelsea who have stacks of money but know the value of nothing.

Great striker but last season aside, he tends to miss a third of the games through injury. 28 now too. I wouldn't pay the fees or wages being bandied about anyway, but it is scandalous.

The money is what it is now and I'm not sure it can be brought under control. A lot depends on FFP, but recent movement from the big clubs suggest they think any plans are unenforceable. It will take a strong stance and bit of brinkmanship to bring them in line. I have no doubt that a number of these clubs will collude and privately suggest to UEFA that they see a European Superleague as a viable alternative.

UEFA don't fill me with confidence but Platini's hatred of all things English might actually serve a purpose!

I would piss in Van Persie's face without a second thought. The obnoxious scumbag actually seems to take pleasure in being obnoxious.

It is disgusting.
I think a wage cap would work well (illegal though).. And also mean clubs may drop prices so we sve full stadiums again

200k a week?

That's not really that surprising, considering Eto is on 380k a week, Yaya Toure is on 220k a week, Tevez is on 280k+ a week, Rooney on a quarter million a week.

He just wants what the other greedy ****s are getting.

RVP has not performed as consistantly as any of those players though. If he wants the extra money so he can set up a charity foundation (for victims of rape?) as other top earners are doing then fair play, otherwise he's a **** that's made of glass.

A day is coming when clubs will physically want to cap wages themselves. There cannot be much more revenue they can squeeze out of people beyond what they already have, yet inflation of wages is rising year on year just to keep the talent the big clubs have. It will be an absolute disaster for some of them. Citeh etc could easily go the way of Rangers, while teams like us may be able to pick up the pieces and actually win something! <party>

The people you refer to deal in Billions of pounds virtually on a daily basis and if it's good enough for Tony Blair to stash his money away it's good enough for them.
I'm talking about people ( some as thick as bricks ) who couldn't get a living elsewhere if it wasn't for the fact they could kick a ball.
They need to realise it's the guy who earns £250 a week who helps pay their wages. Football is just obscene now.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7926264/Ben-Haim-puts-Pompey-on-brink

Ultimately we're just coming round to the philosophical attachments to moral compass, evolved selfish behaviour and imperial capitalist structure and wealth divides perpetuated by the class system...

supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not some farcical aquatic ceremony

As we're at the lower end of the spectrum, we can be as educated as we want and theoretically bash the bejesus out of the system, but ultimately those at the top end will keep sniggering from up high, throwing livestock and calling us "silly English kniggits"...

When the day of reckoning for world football comes in financial terms, it'll be a catastrophe for everyone (Sky, the crowds, and those who are too thick to bother with school studies and thus kick a leather sack at a door all day, hoping they might become famous). The current footballers are making hay while the sunshines!

Same will probably happen with the music industry, and various other media, when everyone realizes they're actually **** and too expensive, just sports seems to have grown so fast so quick.

So, who wants in my anarcho-syndicalist commune? <laugh>

Talking of filth... You may like to know that Owen has set up an askOwen twitter thing due to the lack of interest in his services, I presume. I read it on the Liverpool forum, and apparently he's already had some crackers!

If ever there was someone whose greed was getting in the way... He could've been on his second season with Stoke by now <laugh>

I'm sure you'll get lots of offers of help but unfortunately, the only gardening I've done was when I was playing cricket.
