Agreed, I have started using multi quotes too, it's easier to use and when I use the iPad, it doesn't seem to affect the pages at all. I have no problem with signatures and multi quoting.

It's less annoying than Tickler making 8 posts at the end of every thread as he replies to everybody individually.

This might just be me being a grump, but the number of sticky threads can piss me off a bit. During the euro's there was 6 on the go. I had to scroll down on my laptop just to get to the first thread. Surely a limit of 3 or 4?

Like now there's 5 on the go with 2 about transfers. I know they were supposed to be very different, but they've become a bit blurred round the edges.

Agree with this, but I'm not sure what can be done. Personally I don't use the history or Olympics threads but appreciate other people are interested. The transfer pages have become a little pointless - people posting transfers without actually giving any opinions so it's now just a list - surely we can all just use BBC/Sky if we want that?

Hints for new users is one I can't really argue against.

I agree on there being too many at times, there's been times when we've had 6 on the go and I've fixed it by unstickying this for a week or so until one expires. Partly because I'm aware of the scrolling issues with laptops, I tend to come on here on my netbook which has a max resolution of 1024x600, and we do try to keep the numbers down to 4 or less.

There's obviously been times that exceptions have kicked in during major tournaments because it makes sense to keep all the chat together. If you take the Olympics one at the moment, the alternative would be people starting one O/T thread to talk about Hoy in the cycling, then someone else about Ennis, then there'd be a Daley thread (and at this point I've realised we should have waited until after miff's daily thread starred Ennis before we made it a single thread), and so on. Then because we're still in the close season we'd have people complaining about there being way too many O/T threads compared to City related ones.

I think the history thread is helpful in that it gives somewhere for the old stories and things to be told without too much trouble and just builds an archive of things.

This thread I'd say is handy to have for the technical side of things for the newbies, and if we need to do anything as mods there's not much chance anybody can plead ignorance and claim nobody had told them the rules.

The Olympics one I've already covered, but that'll drop off at the end of the Games, which is about the start of the season.

The City transfer rumours thread seems a good idea in principle, and is quite well used (I don't read them so I'm going by post numbers), but we do also get the rumours being posted as seperate threads so I'm not sure it being stickied is doing the job it was supposed to. If we're saying that the two stickied transfer threads are becoming blurred as well then I'll unsticky the City transfers one in a minute, and obviously the other one will drop off at the end of the transfer window.

In the week before the start of the season we'll also be getting the Prediction League thread stuck up, so there might be a bit of a cross over there, but once we're into the season properly we'll be down to this thread, the history thread, and the prediction league thread as the only stickies. Then from Xmas til the end of January we can just have a single transfers thread.

    top to sticky

At some point in the next week I'll tidy this thread up into one post and redo it on the generic account.
