just back from a great day at hickstead then bit of dinner out just watched the race and BoooooM!! it ENDED up another demolition! what a filly!!!
It was amazing Wooly. I thought she'd had it. Boxed in on the rails, couldn't get out and when she did, it was too late. Whoosh, no it's not. Come on.. Depression - hope - expectation - then laughter as she not only caught them but went right away. Apparently she was 117/1 in running and I've heard even more. Some filly.
Really nice performance when she got clear she quickened up and lengthened really well. well done with that one wooly.. Well done to every one else who got winners today.
Just rewatched the Irish Oaks and it's amazing how Great Heavens took off when she saw daylight. At the 2 pole Buick was looking for a hole between horses but for me she didn't want to go there and looked to be in 2 minds. But when Buick pulled her wide of the Weld horse and she had daylight in front of her, that was very, very impressive acceleration. The way she swept down the outside was reminiscent of the great Dancing Brave in the Arc (although clearly the opposition today was weaker), and surely she has to follow in his footsteps now and go to Longchamp, for what at the moment looks a wide-open Arc? Edit: I guess the owners have Nathaniel for the Arc and may look to scoop the Leger with GH, which for me would be a shame - she deserves to take her chance in the Arc IMHO
I think the stiff race suited and perhaps the ground as well. I think she was somewhat done for toe but Galileo's just gallop and gallop. I'd have a crack at Camelot in the St Ledger, let's see what he's got.
When she was headed I thought it was game over and to be honest was exactly what I expected- some quicker rivals to see her off. But no way, she absolutely obliterated them once she got going. Very, very impressive performance.
No mention of Reckless Abandon on here today. He was seriously impressive in France getting the better of Sir Prancelot
