I really hope we don't take Adam- he can't restrain himself from the long ball. We don't have wingers pinning them back on the flanks so it would be a waste. Murphy's skill was intelligent, short, passing. Diarra and Dembele will bounce it off each other. We could do with a player similar to Ehuhu, in that he can tackle & hold in midfield, but who can also pass, like Diarra, just to sit in reserve with Sidwell & Gecov.
Do you think Dembele is staying, then? I'd much rather he stayed at Fulham than moved to Arsenal, United etc. Which Diarra is this you've got, also? Bit lost. Adam could work with Petric, balls over the top, crosses and so on.
I don't know if Dembele will stay, but the board will put more resources into keeping him than Dempsey. Adam would be a poor replacement for Murphy, for Dembele it's incomprehensible. We've got Mahamadou Diarra.
Ah ok, thought it was Lass for a second and I'd missed a big move. Adam would be a replacement of sorts but he doesn't have Murphy's calm or consistency.
Don't want Adam he would disrupt tactics, as he plays for himself rather than the team. It's the reason why Rangers sold him to Blackpool, and he did the same there, although it looked like he was their play maker, he gave lots of passes away cheaply. He's a bit of a moody player, and as seen before a bit of a mercenary, so we'd have future problems. Not impressed with his crossing or passing for Liverpool. Much rather keep Dempsey, or get someone else in for the money we'd get.
As i have said before i am quite a fan of him, but reading of the contract stalling by Noble of WH, "ah" i realy would love to make him our priority signing. (But the issue would possibly be the wages )
Noble would be ideal, but - as you say - wages is likely to be the problem. I had hopes we'd move for him when West Ham got relegated, and then I hoped they would lose the play-off final so we could try for him. Now they're back in the Premier League, I can't imagine we would be willing to pay him more than West Ham will offer. Maybe we need them to get relegated again for us to have a chance of getting him now.
Now you mention it, they don't look dissimilar (ok, so they're both just bald). I wonder if Senderos could play holding midfield, though. His passing is decent enough and if he's not being put under as much pressure as he is at CB he could be bloody good there. Big Mart I hope you're reading!
Agree that Noble would be an excellent signing, rosc. It's a curious one on West Ham's part - Allardyce is apparently in for 6 or 7 players and won't discuss Noble's contract until he sees how that pans out. I would have thought it would have been in their interests to get him under a longer contract regardless. Although he only has 1 year left on his current contract, he won't come cheap (£8m bottom price at a guess) so the fee may be an issue as well.
Ryo Mayaichi Arsenal are obviously keen to loan him out - a deal with Ajax fell through only recently because they''ve gott someone permanent lined up. Now the young winger is being linked with us - http://http://www.arsenalnews.co.uk/fulham-to-launch-loan-bid-for-arsenal-teenager-ryo-miyaichi/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ArsenalNewscouk+%28Arsenal+News%29 Were we not trying to arrange something similar before he went to Bolton ?
I've never quite understood Arsenal's policy on loans - I believe Silva spent most of the time he was at Arsenal out on loan - why buy someone if you don't need them - or if you buy them and find out they are no good why not at least try and sell them on?
I think - and I've not checked my facts on this, so I could be completely wrong - that Arsenal are one of those clubs who buy promising non-european youngsters who don't yet qualify to get a work permit in England, then park them on loan at a club who will help their development and enable them, eventually, to get a work permit. I'm pretty sure that Chelsea and Man United have done that kind of thing in the past too.
This, I think, is very good news - ManU have agreed a fee for Lucas Moura. As reported by the very same Mirror (so this time round I sincerely hope they have it correct) - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-land-lucas-moura-1154311 Presumably then, Dembele won't be going there. Phew !
Read late this evening on tribal football that Fulham had signed Lukaku from Chelsea on a one year loan, can anyone confirm if this is fact.
Post about him yesterday, rosc - He was playing for Chelsea this evening against PSG, so a loan deal with us is looking very unlikely.
Says in The Sun today we have loaned him for a year - I know that's only The Sun, but bloody good if true.
The Club have confirmed that no bids have been received for Dempsey or Dembele and at the same time said "hands off". We all know this means not a lot come 31st August. Still it's kind of encouraging and they are obviously playing 'hard ball' and won't let either go cheaply. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1126456?cc=5739
