Firstly and most importantly-I'm not wumming. A few months ago, I posted a similar thread, and I wondered if opinions have changed. With the increasing likelihood of an ugly end at Fratton Park looming, players demanding outstanding money in full, Portpin apparently worried about penalties and an entire team of trialists... Would now be a good time to put the old Pompey of their misery and put energy and effort into a new club....? Thoughts...?
I will always answer no. Even if I am in the minority I will not give up on Pompey until the day it gets liquidated. Until that happens there is always hope. I dont care how hopeless it might look nothing will change my outlook on the matter.
Yet another take on our situation - the comment from SJ Maskell is particularly telling. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...el-haim-a-symbol-of-pompeys-fall-7964168.html
Yes. Apart from the fans (who manifestly DON'T deserve for their club to disappear), that cesspit of a business needs to be taken down. Feel free to insult me, but thats my opinion.
If the high earners do one and the PST take charge then we'll be fine. Will take some time and a lot of effort but at least in the long term we'll be secure. If the high earners leave and BC takes charge we'll be repeating this is 12 months time. Either way, I've been ready and have accepted liquidation since late Jan. Bring it on Eastleigh, Dartford and Ebbsfleet.
I believe I understand exactly what you're saying pieking. If BC takes over again it will continue to be a cesspit - but just from a different angle. Remember folks this is the guy who was in charge when Lawrence and Kitson were signed. This is the guy who refused to pay Ben Haim when WHU sent him back to us (hence the big outstanding amount owed to him). This is the guy who took us into admin twice - who refuses to pay off the current players at a reasonable amount ie. using the parachute payments - because he wants his ill-advised loan back. This is the guy who is offering less than half a pence in the £ to the creditors of the first CVA. But I still want the club to continue.
I am always reminded of the reaction of a guy I worked with a few years back when Andronikou said Pompey could be liquidated within a week. This guy was a Southampton fan and he thought it prudent upon learning that news to stop working and go from one end of the warehouse to the other telling everybody he found the news. I'll never forget the jubilant look on his face or the joyous tone in his voice as he relayed that information to me. In his defence we had not interacted that much and he didn't know I was a Portsmouth fan but the warehouse is in that area between Portsmouth and Southampton and there were more than enough Pompey fans working there at the time that he knew this information was going to upset most of the people working there. And considering my abhorance for the rivalry anyway I felt that reaction was uncalled for - to take pleasure in the potential demise of another club has always struck me as distasteful to the extreme in any event. It is, perhaps, this instance which has removed whatever patience I might have had with Southampton fans who call for Portsmouth to be liquidated. I have been told that I get this very wearisome, bored look on my face whenever I hear or read about a Southampton fan calling for that course of action to be taken. So I have no intention of insulting you, but I hope you will understand why I do not attribute any substance to your opinion on this matter nor give it any real consideration.
Fair enough. I encountered a similar thing when it was our turn. This opinion has very little to do with me being a Saints fan however.
MAJR And the simple facts are these, liquidation is inevitable if the money runs out, the administarator cannot run with no funding............but we all know it wont happen because the threat of liquidation means the very people digging their heals in wont get a penny.....not a bean. The players are driven by their greedy reps......who get paid when the player gets paid.....no money no fee! So, where will it en, well, the players will either go, one by one on a free, with an agreement to get their money over a period of time...........or they will get nothing.....the sooner they get real the easier it wil be for every one involved.......but it will go to the wire. BC cannot be blamed for everything that has gone on here....most of the players involved except BH were signed after he sold to Convers........... He merely wishes to protect his invested funds...... who would'nt? Keep the faith my firends, BP
But the fact that you are one, seems to be the reason why you are forever on here. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind.
Interesting replies to this thread from fellow PFC fans Saints fans try to wind us up, don't succeed, and quite frankly can't understand why not. Sad isn't it ?!............
Good news! My fiance comes back from Rome this evening, so I'll be much less bored, and will leave you alone.
A Safe journey for the future Mrs King. Hopefully after you tie the knot you will mellow and get a less sneaky looking avatar please log in to view this image
It's a shame that Portsmouth FC can't be closed down and the fans consortium and the council re start as Portsmouth FC 2, with all History still intact and fans not feeling they were supporting another club. If the council could get there hands on Fratton Park even more so. Is any of that possible ?
If the current club does go down the toilet and a phoenix club starts in non-league football in 2013-14, we, the fans, would still adopt the history [League Championships, FA Cups] with the club in the same way as Wimbledon, rather than the club that became MK Dons consider themselves to have won the FA Cup in 1988. Officially "FC Pompey" would have no history, but just try telling that to the fans! As far as Fratton Park is concerned I think (and I'm sure some-one will correct me if I'm wrong) that, some-where in the deeds to the ground/the land the ground is built on, it says it can ONLY BE USED FOR FOOTBALL, so in the event of the club going out of business, it will either be leased to the new club, for a nominal fee or just left, an empty shell.
That's exactly what I meant dev, other fans would simply associate a new name ( closer to the old name the better ) as Portsmouth Football Club and keeping the ground would add to that. If all that was possible a fresh start would not be that bad and with good support and money through the till climbing some leagues would be possible.
