He did what he was initially employed for. That is to restore confidence to a team and club in a lowbb. Agreed. What I am saying is that he should not have been given the longer term job. I give you the most obvious example. The likes of Kenny smith Hansen would put the team first before theirs. Modern players are different and their sense of loyalty less...pronounced to put it mildly. Suarez s a very good player but he looks after number one like most of his contemporaries do. So the way Kenny defended him even when the evidence was pointing in a different direction was in many peoples opinion not appropriate to the situation. He also bought players who dd not fit into the system and tried desperately to play these players even when the were not delivering. You might say we are getting the benefit of retrospection but many people were having doubts even then but were either silent or kept quiet because we were dealing with Kenny.
Yes, yes you are. Your hatred for this man makes me doubt your claim to be a LFC fan. Most fans would look at KD's contributions over his entire life and the mans gave more to the club than you or I ever will. Did he perform to his own high standard in his second term ? No and it cost him his job. You got what you wanted. But here you are, no posts on players in or out. No posts on the new managers style. No posts on pre season friendlies or new corporate structure or plans for new stadium or revamp the old? No you have one topic and one topic only: How bad Kenny Dalglish is. You Sir are a disgrace. No; I'll finally say it. You are a Wum. So you keep posting how much you hate KD and the rest of us will talk about Liverpool Football Club; something you apparently know little about and have little interest in discussing.
I hope we don't take him, he was pony before you even had a go on him. He's a completely different player to Murphy and wouldn't suit our style of play- if there is any possibility of him being involved in a swap with Dempsey then we should be charging another £2m on top, just to take him away.
The reasons for keeping and sacking Kenny have been gone over ad infinitum on these threads so there's no use repeating them yet again as the matter is over. However, the point still remains that presenting your opinion as facts is certain to rile those supporters who do not agree with you. Most certainly you are welcome to present your opinions but don't come crying when other people disagree with you - it's all a matter of opinion.
Adam looks better with Lucas in the side, simple. At the begining of the season him and Lucas seemed to have a good partnership as Adam can't defend so that was left to Lucas, something he excells at and Adam could do more damage in the oppositions half. Pairing Adam & Gerrard together was a nightmare as neither defended properly and tracked midfield runners (prime example is the game we lost againt Bolton). Think we should keep him. Remember it's a squad game and with Europa and 2 cups to be fighting for, having 5 or 6 decent CM's is key when we are going to be playing 3 in the middle most games.
Agreed. I think most people would say its fair enough if someone felt Kenny wasn't the right man to manage us going into this season and that he should be replaced. But the sneering way in which he posts about Kenny, "stuck in the 90s" as an example, makes me think he's just here trying to get a reaction. Actually I don't think so, I know that he's a WUM. And the way he implies that Suarez was guilty and was being intentionally racist even though the "evidence" (and I use that word lightly) the FA and Evra used against him was spurious at best. **** him, if he's sad enough to create an internet persona just to wind a group of people up, then he clearly has issues.
True but then football is all about partnerships. Would you rather Thaigo Silva and Pique at CB's if they were terrible as a partnership and kept conceeding, even knowing they are 2 of the best CB's in football at the moment. Or would you rather have 2 players who aren't quite as good individually but as a partnership are much better? Although I say Lucas in my comment, in theory I mean a DM, someone that is going to cover to Adam wouldn't have to worry about doing as much defending. It's a bit like Paul Scholes, he looks a better player when he doesn't have to worry about tackling (as he can't), similar to Adam.
I see what you mean, and this point was also raised before. I'm not the type who says that we should get rid of someone, by all means if Adam stays he will get a couple of assists or even goals. I would welcome him being part of a swap deal if it meant bringing in a player of a higher quality. I would just rather we had someone better who is at the standard to achieve top 4 in the next couple of years.
Agreed, if he were to leave and we were to replace him with more quality then yeah I'm all for it, but what are we going to get for him £5-£10mil? Would we be able to pick up someone of real top 4 quality for that amount? Possibly if we went abroad and picked up a bargain but I'm not sure. Think he should get at least 1 more season as we know he can score goals and deliver decent free kicks/corner as he did it for Blackpool. I don't get how he can somehow lose the ability to take a free kick when moving from Blackpool - Liverpool though.
Lucas has been so good over the last 2 years he could make nearly anyone look good next to him. Spearing looked like an excellent midfielder next to him. So did Meireles. When they didn't have Lucas next to them they went downhill quite quickly. And even with Lucas, there were plenty of question marks over Adam's ability to help control the game and the midfield. And his defensive ability. He looked decent next to Lucas, but people still thought we could improve massively on him for next season.
As I said on the match forum, Adam looked to me like the same player as last year last night and a voice in my head (not the one saying kill people) says he can't up his pace & speed of thought enough over an entire season. BUT: he obviously has the dead ball ability somewhere. You don't get lucky at that for an entire season either. He looked ok with Lucas when he had no responsibility. He's only back from injury too. So; there is no way BR believes Adam is Lucas' backup. If he can find better at a reasonable price or if he can sell him as part of a deal for a better player in a priority area: an ACTUAL backup/competition for Lucas for example then fine. Otherwise let's hope BR brings his confidence up so his set piece returns and he can be used in games to rest others.
Buy: Allen, Dempsey Keep: Gerrard, Lucas, Shelvey, wee Jay, Suso, Bellamy, Sterling Maybe: Aqualani Out: Downing, Adam, Cole.
I'd give Adam a chance. He looked fairly decent when coupled with a more defensive-minded midfielder, i.e. Lucas or Spearing. There will always be questions about his speed and tackling, but if he improves his fitness and defensive coverage, e.g. tracking runners, he could still be a decent squad player. We must remember that we are looking to get our players match-fit for the coming season. Perhaps we should reserve some judgment until closer to the time? If he goes to Fulham, though, so be it. I think he could do a job for Fulham, a la Murphy. Colour me crazy, but I've got to admit to being slightly more concerned about Joe Cole than Charlie Adam.
I'd be happy with our 6 midfielders to be Gerrard, Allen, Lucas, Henderson, Shelvey, New DM/Spearing With youth players perhaps also involved if needed. We wanted Sigurdsson so we're definitely in the market for midfielders. Aquilani I'd love to stay but I doubt he will.
