Niether of these signings have been confirmed by any other news source so I take these reports with a pinch of salt, but if true then hugely disappointed, neither are any better than what we already have at the club.Indeed Warnock has been very poor for the last two seasons and Collins wouldnt get past at least three other centre halfs we already have at the club when it comes to first team selection. I hope MON is not raiding his 'past it' old players and bringingthem here for the bloody sake of it.
Brown (CB/RB) Collins (CB) Cuellar (CB/RB) O'Shea (CB/RB/LB) Bardsley (RB/LB) Kilgallon (CB/LB) Warnock (LB) with Richardson, Colback as LB cover but with the strength in depth at the back, they will be allowed to play in their natural positions in midfield. Turner and Bramble out. I have always been a fan of building a team from the back and I'm happy with the look of our defence. No world-beaters but plenty of Premiership and European experience. With the defensive recruitment now hopefully complete we can concentrate on our problems up the other end of the field. We need a creative midfielder, a pacey winger to complement McClean and 2 Strikers, at least one of which should be guaranteeing us 20 goals a season. 4 weeks to go lads. FTM
Some common sense and a spot on post mate Collins is superior to all but Brown & JOS at CB, but as they are both made of glass, it's a very sensible signing, and although Warnock has indeed had a poor couple of seasons, so has the entire Villa squad under atrocious management, the lad was linked with a return to Liverpool for silly money just before the Vialla slump. £4million for some decent standar cover is smashing business, it's as simple as that.
I thought Warnock had a stinker last year but its amazing what a good ol stat can do. Warnock made more interceptions than any other full back in the league last year #positionalsense
He's also capable of delivering a decent cross as well. And we all know Riccois likely to leave, so we need 2 left back!
No offence but I'd be pretty underwhelmed with these signings. One's 30 the other's nearly 29 and they're both distinctly average and have been playing pants for a decent amount of time
Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill says there has been no bid from Blackburn Rovers for defender Matt Kilgallon. O'Neill says his priority is to bring in new signings, rather than let players go. by @skysportsbucko 4:31 PM yesterday This pritty much says to me, I have sold some players and got rid of some to get the wage cap opened and free up some funds, now the purchasing begins I think when we submitted our squad we only had something like 15 first team players and then reserves and such forth (however this may of been including meyler, noble etc etc) therefore if we only have the 15, id say buy at least 5 in excluding Cuellar, therefore this is 2, now we need 2 strikers and a creative mid and i will be happy
Probably mate, as i'm not opposed to these signings, i'll bide my time.. I seem to have been harping on about Warnock for an eternity now, seems i'm pretty much alone in the liking of this player.....and he's a l/b....what's one of them?
getting a bit worried about the lack of transfers are we getting left behind or am i worrying aboot nowt hopefully the check book will come oot soon
Maybe but why not spend a bit more and get someone better/younger in. Wouldn't be that hard. Typical O'Neill signings though he likes his old players. Reckon they'd both be on near £50k/week as well so hardly cheap cover if you ask me.
They won't be near 50k a week, and they certainly won't get that from us. We are more in need of goals, so adequate inexpensive options at the back might have to do. Personally, I'm comfortable with that.
O'Neill gets players on average wages with high bonuses doesnt he? thats why I have been led to believe
Villa pay their players big money. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...erage-wage-by-10k-per-week-article809127.html £57k/week average for the first team squad back in October. They might not be going to you for £50k/week but it won't be far off it surely imo, waste
