not Spearings biggest fan but i was impressed by him, he had a good half,

Pacheco was good also, and Suso showed why we have high hopes for him.

just wondering if Pacheco will be backup or fighting with Downing for a place, as Brendan said Sterling is too young and will probably send him on loan.

only 2 players i wasn't that impressed with was Cole and Adorjan.

cant wait to see the full strength team play this style of football, needs tweaking here and there obviously, but looks promising for the future of LFC

  2. I thought Pacheco was brilliant in that first half. Aquilani looked good too. Second half went a little a little flat but Shelvey stood out for me, Suso was impressive in parts as was Flanagan. Good to see us keeping possession so much, especially against a side that is in the middle of their season too <ok>

Liverpool are destined to be Rogers next Reading, where he lost 12 home games on the trot.

You must never forget that he brought his style to a Swansea team that had been many seasons in the making, and he succeeded, when he tried from scratch at Reading he failed miserably.

don't think its fair to count the first 3 games at home as they are against the top 3 in the league and will be tough even if at home.

we know it will take time to implement his style properly but signs are there and looks promising, and as they say its not how you start its how you finish, as long as top 6 finish or better, with a bit of luck and a few more quality signings never know could finish higher.

think its too early to be saying Liverpool are destined to be Rodgers next Reading.

game against Spurs should give a pointer on how we should do this coming season, for me any way.

How is he starting from scratch? Do you think there were no players at Liverpool that could play or pass a ball before Rodgers arrival? Go and wum Cardiffs board, idiot.

Way to early to start dishing the manager who has only had 90min of play for us.We should be thinking positive and get behind the boy's in stead of already writing them of.I know a lot of people have last season still in their mind me to to an extent, but it is a new start, new manager, a few new players (hopefully)

    Roll on the 18th august

Getting a bit fed up with all the "jacks" buzzing round us like a demented swarm of midges. When they outplayed us last year I don't remember a single one of them coming on here and saying "Don't worry: our managers actually rubbish and it's all somebody else's doing"

Funny how that crap started once he left their asses.

As for what I saw last night. I saw two halves played predominantly with our youth squad against another youth squad. You can see the progression of the quick passing style which to be honest the youth have been playing anyway. Good start to pre season.

We saw arguably our most important player back playing actual competitive minutes well ahead of schedule.

Only first friendly but we also saw why Cole wasn't here last year; one or two moments of skill surrounded by anonymity. Adam slow & ponderous but while I believe that to be his natural level I'll afford him the same time back from injury that Lucas gets.

The Kids looked decent but the ones we really have our eye on need more time or out on Loan.

Sterling hasn't enough gamecraft yet. Suso reminds me a bit of Cole in how he drifts in and out of games but he is very young so it can be beaten out of him.

    Good start.

Spearing's highest pass rate last season was 68 over 90 minutes.

First half yesterday he completed 49 with 94% accuracy.

    Carra's pass accuracy was 100% (50/50) and Sterling completed 17 of 22 (77%).

Despite his career starting before his time at Swansea, and Swansea being one of several teams to play possession football, an idea first introduced in Britain by... Liverpool?

Sick of the way your fans think it's only Swansea that play this way. Ajax were doing it years ago, Holland do it, Brazil do it (with more flair), Valencia do it, Barca have taken it to another level, as have Spain. Roma have tried to instil a possession game in the last few years, Milan and Madrid have always been brilliant at keeping the ball. Liverpool have always played pass and move, United dominate most teams every week with players like Scholes and Carrick suffocating the opposition. I could go on.

If Sp\earing can continue to p\lay well holding the midfield then he could be cover for Lucas and save us big time on transfers.

Ahhhhhh: now I get it. Swansea fans have mistaken the big curly haired wigs in the scouse jokes as reality and from behind they look mighty mighty fine....
