The only problem for Lewis will be Kimi behind who looks very quick on race pace, Schumacher with his top speed and of course "mad dog" in front with Hulk to boot slowing them down.

How about a new F1 based guessing game? How many laps until Pastor Maldonado does something stupid/dangerous/petulant? I'll guess lap 12.

Well I used a random number generator and it said lap 43 from 0-67 that I put in.

This is where the F1 public needs to build a program that tries to predict what will next happen to Maldonado.

He'll be carried across the finish line by a determined team of pigeons.

I'll piss myself if that happens (lap 12 or 43) but I don't believe in random since Fred! got Senna three times in a row in the Sweepstakes. I'd have a guess myself but I just want him to have a good race.

I think the majority would want him to have a good race, the speed is obviously there, but he's too much of a nutter at the moment, he needs to string some consistent performances together.

As daft as it sounds, I think he'll get a podium, and prove us all wrong, while Raikkonen (for example) will hit everyone.

Sorry to go off at a tangent but kudos to Nico Hülkenberg for today. Was this his best since the wunderpole in Brazil?

I didn't realise this at the time, but Kimi set his best Q1 lap on hard tyres:

Superb thinking from Alonso and Ferrari, who once again out-witted McLaren's ponderous strategic thinking.

On a drying track, it should have been obvious that the fastest time would come at the end, rather than going out as soon as possible. By leaving it very late, Alonso had hotter tyres which were also much sharper (critical with full wets, when after a quick single lap) than everyone else.

Alonso is a canny lad. No doubt he will be hoping for wet or changeable conditions tomorrow; such conditions are more likely to trip McLaren up – again. But if the race is dry, it is also more predictable, which will reduce the opportunity for strategic errors. Therefore, if it's dry, I think we can expect a better performance from the otherwise sleepy Woking team.

And yes, if it's dry, Raikkonen will probably be a big threat.

I'd expect Grosjean, Perez and others to try one stopping.
