As a captain his recent lack of commitment has led me to question his loyalty, it has been stated that we have offered to make him the best paid player at Leeds. Yet he still has not signed up to the cause, so I really doubt he has the ability to lead Leeds United forward and maybe its time to move him on. I know he has scored some good goals, but if we are honest he sometimes looks sluggish and easily readable. I personally doubt he can step up to the Premiership and will be a drain on Norwich's wages structure. So lets not keep offering him a contract, he clearly wants off so lets state the price we want and and let him rot in reserves if we do not get it.
Understand where you are coming from,at times he can look a world beater other times he can look very ordinary...however I would still have him in my team in this league. He is in danger of becoming hero to zero the longer he stalls on his commitment to our club...... Come on Snoddy sort yourself out and sign.
He's a very good player. Contributes a good amount of goals from the wing and gets a load of assists. I do agree with the you when you say he looks sluggish and easily readable but I'd say that was down to him being double marked. When Gradel was here, they wrecked havoc, but since he left, Snodgrass was our only real creative threat so teams looked to stop him and therefore stop us. He finds it hard, due to his lack of pace, to get out of tight marking. We need to improve our team with new signings, not by selling our best player. However, if the price was say £2.5 - 3million, and with Bates gone/going that money would be reinvested in the actual team, so we could seriously improve the squad with that. I'd be tempted to sell if I was Warnock, if the price was right.
He is a very good player, and is good enough to play in the Premiership, but he isn't a world beater, therefore he is not irreplaceable.
Over rated NO he is good for this league and possibly the prem.but if he was half as good as some of you make him out to be he would have been snapped up by the big boys last season or deffo the last couple of months,, deffo good enough to help you with your promotion but only if you have a decent team to play him in,,sell him for 3M you can build the team (if Bates allows you to reinvest the dosh) but have no Snoddy Keep him and you have Snoddy but not a good enough team., just my opinion you did ask
I think you make a fair point tbh, but were all praying with a little investment we will have Snodgrass and a better team.
He has the right to choose not to sign any new contract and still feel the club will honor his current contract instead of acting like children and making him 'rot in the reserves. This attitude does not show passion, it shows the fans in a bad light
Best player we've had since relegation and has only had a few average games because he's constantly getting doubled up on. He is definitely irreplaceable, we could get a decent enough winger/AM in but we wouldn't be able to attract anyone near Snoddy's quality in the Championship.
I would have cashed in £2M for him and signed Sone Aluko on a free and/or seen if I could have tempted Gradel back with the £2M - Both far better than Snodgrass IMHO
One of the better players maybe, but not the best as Kilgallon, Howson, Gradel & Beckford were clearly better players. I do not believe his heart is in it for Leeds, its time for him to state his intentions... We can do much better than Snodgrass but I doubt he will ever do better than Leeds United. So... If he is waiting to see if Ken goes before signing again, then say it (this I can understand) If he has had his head turned by a relegation battle at Norwich next year then admit he wants away.
Are we going to do this every time a player of ours leaves? When Beckford left, we all told ourselves that he was lazy, missed too many chances and only scored because of players around him. Then Johnson went, and we told ourselves he was terrible, skied loads of shots etc. Gradel went and we told ourselves that Lloyd Sam or Nunez would be able to step up in his place. Then Howson went and we told ourselves he went missing in games and that Clayton was much better. Then Clayton goes and we tell ourselves that Green is better, Clayton wasn't good for ages. Now Snodgrass... Snodgrass is a top class Championship player. You will not find a better winger in this league than him.
Agreed, really pissed off with some sections of the Leeds support who almost always turn their opinion of a player around because he dares to wish to move on. It is his right to play at the highest level and as an employee he has the right to leave his job and seek something better, that doesn't mean he is any less of a player or his ability is lacking, football is a job and Leeds United is an employer, that's it. Get a life and why not wish him all the best if he does decide to move on and try his luck at a higher level.
Could he cut it in the Premiership? Beckford, Delph and alike all failed at the top level, were we not right to say they could not cut it...? No one thought Howson would fail, but Johnson success was a surprise!! But Norwich's second season will be the true test for these 2 (maybe 3). At Elland Road people see these players playing week in and out, we know what strengths and weaknesses are. I am not saying we should get rid of Snoddy, but I am questioning if he would cut it at the top. We can tell what players are made of.... We could tell that Beckford would need fifty chances to score ten goals. We knew that Johnson would still sky the ball. At Leeds it appeared that Delph liked the night life, so is it any surprise that injuries have plagued his career so far? For Norwich Snodgrass will score but decent Premiership defenders will easily cope with him more often than not. I for one would rather we still had Howson and Gradel, than Snodgrass but that's life...
Yes because every fan has a different opinion to each and every player and we all need to respect that. Just as every manager has a different view of what and who they need to get a team promoted. I was devastated when Gradel left, Howson only bothered me because he was the captain, he was young and I knew the money was not going to be re-invested. He was certainly replaceable but it saddened me because I knew he wasn't going to be replaced. I was sad to see Johnson go because I felt he was a good squad player but I could see the arguments being made by those that said let him go. White has stayed, I am glad but it would not have been the end of the world for me if he had gone. He has star qualities and he has weaknesses. There are better left backs and there are better wingers, there are not many with as much potential as him.
Boab I don't wish him any luck, because he has not had the bottle to say he wants a move.... Players should want to make the most money and better themselves, but some of the commitment crap this kid has come out with is bullshit. We may be about to get taken over by a rich Arab yet he still has not pledged his future.
Do you go into work everyday and say "I want to stay here for years"? No, nor does a professional footballer. He has ambitions and deserves his chance should it come. He wants to see what develops, as last season he was fed the biggest load of lies from Bates/Grayson and will not fall for it again. He is an employee of Leeds United and that is it, he can leave next summer and will do if he wishes to, nothing wrong with that and we should be grateful for his five years of service to the club.
As for Clayton, disgraceful decision to sell him, especially to a rival, not yet adequately replaced. Would rather have kept him and lost White. Who did we bring in? Paul Green! Whoopee!! Hopefully not as a direct replacement for Clayton, but who knows? I really hope this Austin guy signs soon, that for me would go some way towards cushioning the blow of losing our best, young, up and coming midfielder. One good game in four? So what? Over forty games in his first full season, and carrying the dross around him on his shoulders once his captain left and until Brown found his form. It wasn't a bad first season and he's only going to improve.
There just seems to be some kind of denial culture with Leeds fans. If someone leaves, it's always 'we can do better', 'he's replaceable', 'overrated', when in reality we've lost some very good footballers. We're not in the Prem. so that doesn't really matter to us at the moment. Is Snoddy at top class Championship winger? Yes. Are our promotion chances much higher with him in our squad? Yes. Beckford got 9 Prem. goals, so hardly failing.
