I think Taarabt really found his feet in the premiership at the end of the season
I expect him to take that form into this season
We all know that he is one of the most talented players in the country on his day

He will have bad games though as he will always be inconsistent

Well Barton was still in the Team when Tarbs turned it on so I'm not entirely sure it was all him (although COL rightly points out that that dirt-bag had a dreadful influence on the dressing room). It seems to me like Mark Hughes had time to work with him and his work-ethic rubbed off on the lad. He was altogether more disciplined - more composed.

That's why I'm hoping that this pre-season will see a total change in the boys temperament with Sparky working closely with him and building up his confidence. Col's above post is on the money to be fair. Every player reacts differently to different things and he's obviously the "arm around the shoulder" type, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm totally aware that its very easy to sit back and criticize all and sundry. Any clown can do it. It takes far more effort and knowledge to build a case for someone so I want to stop having a go at Tarbs so often as he is a brilliant player on his day. A lot of it is down to my admittedly outdated philosophy of "give it and go" football that most of us on these Islands were brought up with. It takes an understanding and a patience to bring out the best in players like Taarabt, a patience that I admit I don't have! (I would have sent Balotelli home on the plane when he play-acted during the Euros yet he went on to bring Italy to the final!)

There is a line that can't be crossed though and that's acting like a child, storming out of Stadiums, sulking when the ball doesn't come, not putting in an effort, openly courting other Clubs, showing disrespect to your Manager etc etc. This kind of behaviour from a professional footballer can never be tolerated, certainly not at the highest level. Its disrespectful to the fans who pay top dollar to see the players give 100% and its ultimately counter-productive to the Club as a whole.

I'm trying to come to a position where I can join some sort of consensus on this mercurial chap. Some others may have to move a little in the opposite direction if we are all to be open and honest about this polarising player.

SWORDS, for me, that's one of your best posts. When you're not talking bollox you can sometimes talk sense. Now, there is a flyerism for you.

Agreed. I think you'll find that even our most ardent Tarrabt supporters, myself included have always slammed him for this kind of behaviour. I firmly believe that is all behind him now. He seems genuinely happy with where he's at and I hope he shows you and the other doubters just what he can do!

I have said that he is without doubt the most skilful player in the division. Also there is no doubt that Barton ****ed things up

He would have known better than us what Traore would respond best to.

Hard to argue with any of this mate, but as I said at the very top, I am prepared to accept these tantrums if it means that we also get to see the genius of Adel. If losing the troughs means that we also lose the peaks, he just becomes another player.

I know that we will never agree on this, but to me the style is as important as the result whereas I believe that the result is most important to you.

A great post Swords, and I'm not being facetious when I say there are several parallels between your behaviour on here and Adel's for the team. You can both be brilliant one minute and bloody infuriating the next...

I wouldn't say never, Roller. Again its back to the "philosophy" ingrained in my head. Now although I'll probably always have a certain unmoveable core belief in how a team should play, my opinions have changed over the years and will probably continue to change as I come to realize that these unpredictable geniuses are what makes the whole Sport really tick.

Truth is, Football is a spectacle first and foremost and for the good of the game as a whole, we have to nurture and encourage flamboyant and skilful players. I'm finding it hard to shift my stance but I'm doing it slowly and surely.

Also, lets not forget what attracted us all to Rangers in the first place - the style. I'm no different in that regard Roller. I love a passing game, me.

Im with rangercol on this one their are people on this site who cant wait for taraabt to make a mistake so they can stick the boot in,JB was a bad influence on adel last year a player not fit to clean his boots, personally i dont think we will see the tantrums this year he has got his contract he was after.I think we will see a more mature player now under MH,the guy is not going to be perfect every game what player is so just cut the guy some slack.

Careful now mate, I think the universe might implode if we agree, the fabric of time will start to unravel.

Style over substance, I’m very happy with that choice. Of course, we still need a Macca at the back to keep us safe!

All boards need posters like you mate
We all have different opinions and that is what makes message boards more interesting
I think you should be allowed to go back on the Naawich board and tell them what nobheads they are

I wonder was Taarabt given an assurance that Barton would be leaving in order to commit to a new deal? That and a bag load of money.

Ok, i've flicked through most of the pots and its all very much the same as usuall...
One thing that never get mentioned is this..
We talk about Tarbs as great player, prem star etc..so we should compare him withhis peers..Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Tony Admas(?), Daviod Beckham...

Every one of these great players performed to optimum level, regardless of manager, team personell and any other excuse.........T aint done it yet...FULL STOP..

IFand i mean IF.he is a top pro prem player. Diffrent leagues, diff managers, diff teams around him will not affect his performance. He will consistantly be a star and/or shining light on the majority of his games.
I remember Ronaldo, Rooney and even Henry sulking because things off field wee not going thier way and the team around them was ****e....dont ever remeber thier game being affected by it though
All top pro's and miles ahead of Tarbs
Really wish people could take of those rose tinted glasse and see he could possibly become a good prem player..could just as easily become a nothing player..
Didnt see to many clubs in for him close season. SAF didnt put a bid in and MH didnt play him at Man City..are we saying these guys, (sirs) are stupid?

Please wake up....he was a big ish in a small pond before..now he swims with the sharks..and at present has been bitten but has a life ring...its up to him to prove himself

Again..for the record..he has done nothing in the premiership. I personally hope he does and believe he can be a good player. Glad we kept him and hope MH can teach him what to do....
I AM AN ADEL FAN...BUT....i can also see his bad points.....maybe some others should try that too

    Just a thought ?
