Glad to see Richard Walker doing the interview. Frank Smith and Jon Marks, who are good journalists and commentators respectively, could learn a lot from his ability to get people to open up. Marks is good at getting stuff out of his co-commentator, and Frank is good at getting people to clarify the picture once his "spade work" has gotten him part of a story, but I don't rate either of them as straight interviewers.
Another interesting read. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9828061._Lads_have_taken_to_Zola_well_/
The Juniors are in action at 5.00pm today in the NI Milk Cup - playing Queen of the South. Wonder if there will be an increased Italian presence in Ballymena to confuse the locals.
Well that is one rumour proving to be correct and hopefully everyone is still happy. http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2856167,00.html
Another on loan from Granada...? http://granadacf.ideal.es/noticias/2012-07-21/418259-ikechi-marcha-watford.html
What a wonderful job Google makes of translation. CR The Scottish end Ikechi Anya, who was one of the sensations of Cádiz CF last season, will leave at Watford, who is also joint family property Pozzo. The operation, advanced yesterday as IDEAL, and is specified and all that remains is to formalize in writing. Thus, the player of Granada CF release its second consecutive meet. Ikechi Anya has been sought by many other groups, but to continue its evolution has determined that it is best to leave Spain.
Interesting family background he has - Nigerian father, Romanian mother, born in Scotland! Must be a late developer, having played for Oxford, Wycombe and Halesowen.
That's a bit of a relief, but it will mean the start of a new set of rumours as to who the shirt sponsor will be...I will add my fav's.. Forza Peroni (after last nights efforts to consume a few pints) Forza Moretti..
Well at least we can ignore the press for a time as it is now official that we will not be signing many of the players linked to us. It seems we do have players at the club already who have some ability. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9830976.Hornets__working__on_Hall_deal/
I hope the keeper we get in isn't Almunia, but none of the sorts of players we're looking at have worried me so far. A goalkeeper: Our oldest keeper turned 19 in May Left back: Dicko was hit and miss last season Centre back: Three players for two positions seems reasonable, and they're all in their early 30s so they won't be blocking up the position forever. Wingers: Murray can't do it on his own. Especially if he is moved inside, as I think he should be. Strikers: Garner, Iwelumo and Massey proved nothing last season. I'm not writing them off, but you can't expect improvement on last year if you're relying on them alone.
Another interview from the WO. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/ Poor old Frank will be wondering if he will have any new news to complete his quota of words with soon.
Directly slagging off Pozzo to the media? That's not a clever thing for a brand new chief executive to do, but at least he was honest.
At least it confirms something that I have been looking out for but hadn't seen yet - "Udinese duo Matej Vydra and Almen Abdi and Granada left-back Daniel Pudil have already joined the club and further players from both sides have been linked with a move to the Hornets." - still can't find anything official though.
I had wondered what Frank at the WO was going to write about today, and here it is. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9840651.Is_embargo_the_reason_for_lack_of_Watford_signings_/ Lots more no comments, but he has asked the questions. Tommy Smith expected back as well.
When the story from Kevin Affleck first came out that Baz was going, he did say that it was going to be a very messy situation to clear up. I think that his information was correct and that there could well be a heap of unpaid bills that have to be sorted into Baz to pay piles and WFC to pay piles. Of course it is possible that Baz does not have the funds to pay them, so quite what happens over them could be a sticking point.
I know for certain that we were (and apparently still are) in a lot of trouble with HMRC. I can't be any more specific as someone job would be on the line. Lets Hope it's resolved very soon.
