Charlie Adam could be used as a makeweight in the deal to take Clint Dempsey from Fulham to Liverpool. The Scotland midfielder only joined the Anfield club from Blackpool last summer but failed to make an instant impression. Liverpool are leading the race for American Dempsey and could be convinced to include Adam, who would be further sidelined if new boss Brendan Rodgers completes a £15million move for Swansea's Joe Allen. Swans boss Michael Laudrup has a contingency plan should Allen leave for Liverpool, and says the midfielder will be allowed to decide his own future. Laudrup made Rayo Vallecano midfielder Michu his third signing of the summer on Friday following the captures of Chico Flores and Jonathan de Guzman. Laudrup reiterated that Swansea have yet to receive any contact from Liverpool, but has a plan in place should Allen move on. 'You always have to be one step ahead so we have to be prepared for everything,' he said. 'It’s not only in this case, but with each position in the team. 'When the transfer window closes on August 31 you can breathe a sigh of relief, but you only have three or four months when people do not talk about transfers because then you look ahead to January 1. It will be the same then. 'You have to think about the present window as well as the future, which will be the winter window. 'But we obviously want to be able to have the best possible team available.' Although Laudrup would like Allen to remain in south Wales, he insists that should an offer come in then the player would be allowed to decide whether he would welcome a move. He said: 'I haven’t spoken to Joe since I have taken over. I haven’t spoken to any of the three Olympics players and we have not had any contact from Liverpool. 'I am in contact with the chairman every day. We agree that if there will be an approach then we will have to talk to the player. 'We cannot just answer 100 per cent yes or no without having talked to the player. Transfer talk: Joe Allen (right) could link up with Brendan Rodgers again 'That’s a problem because he has to concentrate on the Olympics but we will have to deal with that if and when it comes to that. 'You can force players to stay but how does that help? It doesn’t work like that. It’s better to find a solution that suits both parties.' Laudrup also denied reports that Swansea have made an offer for Bolton midfielder Mark Davies. 'We have made no approach,' he said. 'He’s a good player, but it is just rumours. 'I can imagine why there are these rumours because you also have the rumour about Joe Allen and Liverpool.' So no direct quotes regarding Fulham, ourselves or charlie Adam? It is all Swansea! Just yet more poor journalism IMO Edit: although if true, it changes my perspective on us signing Dempsey
No smoke without fire. A lot of these speculative articles seem to be coming true over the recent weeks. Getting Adam off the books and Allen in would be a good improvement to the squad. And Dempsey thrown in for good measure.
I very much doubt Adam for Dempsey would be a straight swap, no doubt we'd end up giving them £5m and a free stab at our rectum whilst we're at it
the way we've ruined him i don't think he'll take many but he'd be an ideal replacement for murphy for them.... good fit for sure.... no ambition from them whereas we are merely getting shut of the scot kenny decided he had to have for kicks. It'd be good cos he's a ball watcher and then just fouls when he finally realised guys have run past him..... he can't fit in the game i think i understand as the game rodgers wants to play. hell gerrard cna't go do it either so we can't afford two!

expand your point muppetfinder rather than merely insulting people. a few quotes which i can only resume you feel point towards a demand for adam.... did any clubs actually bid for him? go on show me why i'm a dumbass and you are not cos frankly your complete lack of manners and respect for others especially when you don't agree with them is making you look like the dumbass. why not write one of your long and concise points others keep telling me about that shows you've got something more than an insult to throw out.. Do you fee the need to: a) defend charlie adam? b) just insult me cos you don't like me c) just act out?
Very well. You insult Kenny's intelligence and ours with insults that he bought Adam for kicks. Your inference is that Adam was clearly a waste of money. I post proof that there was a lot of talk at the time about Adam's qualities, including from Ferguson himself with a valuation of £16m. What did we pay for him? £7m. That isn't enough for you. You can make whatever bullshit, cliched, media-fed and unsubstantiated claims you like, as is your M.O., then get a sulky lip when it's countered. I'm sick of it and you deserve to be called a dumbass because you're behaving like one. Happy now?
yes cos in fact muppet you deserve a tirade yet i won't give you one. As a fellow LFC fan i find your insults disappointing but know on the internet i'll meet people who simply don't see that throwing insults about doesn't do much but reflec ton them.. Therefore after commenting on adam here i'll simply state, if you don't like my opinion (which i'm entitled to have) you really don't need to go out of your way to comment especially if I wrote the thread. I suggest you just avoid what i write in future. If I extend you the same courtesy then I'm sure it'll be much better for all. now: as I said on adam: I've a right to form my own opinion on charlie adam. that opinion stems from looking at the guy in a red shirt not based on what the media tell me that is your assumption and you are wrong. I could go crazy pointing out the media elements in what you said back as a justification as to why my "cliched, media-fed and unsubstantiated claims" are but i won't i found that funny and ironic frankly however you are right that i do not rate the guy. I don't rate him because again he's a ball watcher who stands in the middle of the park and allows guys to run past him while other players like lucas run like doges to cover the gaps. he often ends up coming from behind and either bundles a guy over or slides in so he gives away a lot of frees... I do not think he's got the discipline as I've seen him trot off up field while others try to come short for the defenders and then we see the inevitable hoof. I don't like him, don't have to and think in the end if he is indeed taking a lot of set pieces for us (as he was) then there is an element of him being brought in for that asset to his game (which ended up being awful as the season went on)
I'd be happy enough with this transfer we have a lot of midfielders and if we get Dempsey and Allen someone has to go Adam would be my choice.
You have to realise that Kenny has never, ever, ever in all his life made a single iota of a hint of a whisper of a suggestion of even a partial, small, minute mistake.
