And Hernandez, Ba, Cisse and about 6 other strikers that scored more than Torres last season could've been bought for less than £50mill. VDV was surplus when we signed him, Cabaye was unproven at a high level and Ozil only had a year to run on his contract. Trying to buy them now would cost you more.
No offence, but you tried that with Alonso and you've never really recovered. It's a big risk, so we need to be compensated in an equally large fashion. As a contrast, without meaning to focus on your club, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing would've cost us more than that last summer. I wouldn't swap them for Modric.
If you can name three players of the quality of VDV, Ozil and Cabaye that can be purchased for a combined fee of 30 million then I suggest you give up your day job and become our DOF.
Latest doing the rounds is if Modric refuses to go with the team to America he will face disciplinary action- most likely a fine.
I just hope we don't get thrown off course like we were last season with this Modric stuff. I don't think we need him, as to how much we should sell him for, I leave that to Levy, I just want the player out of the club. We need two strikers and a keeper. One of the strikers we need pronto. (That's not Pronto Alvares who plays for Belafonte Juniors in Chile BTW )
See this is what I don't get - if I was Real Madrid and I saw him kicking up a stink and throwing his toys out of his pram would I want to increase my offer? He's not helping himself and he's certainly casting a bad light over his professional attitude. Apparently we now want £40m for him, rather than £35m, as we have to give 5% of the fee back to Dynamo Zagreb - this looks even more unlikely now - which could harm Tottenham next season.
The Standard casually mentioned that Bruno Uvini might be headed to Milan this summer. Then again, they criticised The Dark Knight Rises for being "humourless" - because the previous couple of Batman films were laugh a minute, weren't they?
Morpheus, it's quite likely that RM are pulling his strings by telling him to force us by way of industrial action. Didn't they do that with CR? Anyway what can Levy do - he's probably fed up with all the posturing and the bad publicity with it. Does he say sod it you can go and get a replacement in time for the start of the season or stand by his principles and make Modric stew?
Big dilemma for Danny Boy, I just hope we don't have Modric training with us. Forget fining him, just put him wiv da yoof and da stiffs like City have done with Ade. We can easily manage without Luka Livermore Sandro Parker Hudd VDV GS Bale Townsend Lennon Carroll Jenas will do for the mids
Jan posted a pic on twitter of him and vdv and I am pretty sure modric is behind the flight attendant at the back of the pic
This one? please log in to view this image Not sure - but the look on Rafa's face shows how much he wants to move back to Germany, doesn't it?
Yes we clearly have enough midfield players, but we do not have a replacement. It's easy to undervalue the contribution of a want-away player. Fact is he's been vital for us in the past few seasons and we do not have a "replacement", so I must disagree "we can easily manage" without him. If he wasn't any good then Real wouldn't want him would they?
Well we will find out for sure soon enough! Either way he clearly wants out and am hoping it is concluded soon so we don't get a repeat of last season
Because I know we all love being entertained by terrible transfer stories - how's this http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...zilian-strikeforce-of-hulk-and-leandro-damiao is what springs to mind.
Cheap journalism as ever - that story has appeared in several places. Would love to think we might actually be in the market for either but far more likely that any reps from the club would have been watching Sandro and more likely Rose and Caulker. Didn't watch the game - did Uvini get on? Read the other day that he was Milan-bound....
If that happened, the look on the faces of Wenger and Bacon Face would be priceless! There's also rumours that we're interested in some free agents in Scotland: The SPL titles of 2003, 2005, 2009 and 2010, the Scottish Cups of 2002, 2003, 2008 and 2009, as well as the Scottish League Cups of 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2010. Well, if Rangers are going to be stripped of them for financial jiggery pokery, somebody should get them...
Can't disagree with that! However I hear they're just that bit more careful with their spending than in the past, which is why the deal probably hasn't been waived through already.
