Allen is capable as a defensive midfielder.

He is, right now, unlike any midfielder we have (not counting Suso, too young).

Henderson will get plenty of minutes this season with or without Joe Allen.

Spearing, Aqua and Adam could all be gone.

I can't say I would be over the moon if we signed him simply because he's a bit of an unknown, he may have a good season with Swansea but that really means fook if he's going to be playing for a team like Liverpool that are expected to win every week but I do trust Rodgers and I think he should be backed in the transfer market no matter what we think.

  3. True but I think it is more to do with what we are getting for that money rather the actual amounts <ok>

Apparently they're going for Bolton's Mark Davies as well. The signs certainly point to a deal for Allen with someone, probably us.

They also seem to either like or hate Rodger's now. Judging by their board they have the best manager in the world, also, despite not having kicked a ball yet. Think they made a good appointment, not saying I don't, but there are very high expectations in Wales right now! Must be nice to support a club that's on the up and up.

As with many deals involving us, they seem the happier party, both re Rodgers and the huge compensation package they received and letting Allen go for 15 ****ing million, they're loving it on their board right now

Where I work and almost every place I have worked the "buck" stops at the top (no pun intended) so I think that is just a fact of life. Plus it is a relevant point to mention that it was FSG who appointed both Kenny and Comolli so they can't really duck it completely by saying "look we just sign the cheques guv".

For me it's simply down to a lack of knowledge of the sport of football/the transfer market/player values and that's not a particular criticism of them because we knew they didn't have that knowledge when they brought the club. As I've said before there's no point pretending it's everybody elses fault but theirs....but ultimately we all want the same thing and not one of us will complain if they deliver it over the period they own the club. What I think we all want is a period of stability off the pitch and some visible progress on it.

I'm not sure Joe Allen is the best we can get for that sort of money but I'm not anywhere near as knowlegable about these things as others so I hope (if we do pay that much) that he turns out to be an absolute bargain <ok> I also hope a relatively high price tag doesn't act like a millstone round the neck like we've seen with a couple of other expensive young players recently.

I'm a bit cautious about the fee, as big fee's are not just a financial loss but an extra pressure on the player to succeed. But Rogers will know whether he can handle it or not.

If he is good defensively and versatile enough to be able to cover Lucas's position if needed then he could be an important addition.

I'll watch him playing for team GB on BBC One later.

Remember Sissoko. He was young and unknown when we signed him, but Rafa knew him. He was awesome until that eye injury.

How do we know the Allen deal is accurate? If we sign him I will be shocked if it's less than 10/12£m, we have a habit of getting ripped off

Just saying we shouldn't be up in arms about a fee that may not be true about a deal that may not be true!

There won't be addons except 15%-20% sell on clause, we will want at least £15m up front, we deal in cash, we are not a bloody bank if you want players cough up!

LFC ought to be making damned sure the youth comes through as a policy not a wishy washy hope. suso, stelring, coady, widsom, robinson, lfanagan and the list goes on... we should not pay 15mil for a 22 year old albeit one who looks to have a lot of games under his belt.

we ought to be telling clubs to go shove it if they want stupid money cos we've a guy who could go do the job ourselves... lord knows theres one or two who if they got games owuld have done nearly as well as henderson... shelvey was as impressive if not more than henderson late on last year.

if the swans in thier optimism think they'll get 15mil for a 5'6" player then on you go. the reality is most transfers have clauses relating to games played etc.

Don't think you'll get a nice round figure like £15M.

If you're asking that, we'd probably open up negotiations at £10M + add ons.

So, although this is pure speculation, a final fee could be around £12M + sell on fee etc, which would be reasonable.

Thing is there is a clause in his contract, Brendan knows its about £15m, and he also knows that our chairman will not sell our players cheap,

I have never heard of valuations linked to height ? I wish Brendan and his staff were taller perhaps we would have got more than £7m ;) thanks by the way for that it's funded the 3 players we just brought in

Problem is, we set a precedent - Henderson for £16m. Swansea within their right to ask for c. £15m

You need to remember we haven't said he's for sale , your manger looks like he's doing the chasing , we (thanks to a very astute Chairman & Board) really don't need to sell but if he is to go then he'll go for the best price we can get ,now that maybe more than you think he's worth but I'm afraid our opinions don't count.

I do agree that you appear to already have players who can already play in Joe's position and possibly are better than him ,our Team's strength is the sum of the Team ,whether Joe cn handle the expectations from a club with higher expectations than us (at the moment) that is the chance that you'll be taking not us

I can't really argue with much of that i think it's fair comment...apart from the "(at the moment)" part <laugh> keep dreaming boyo....just concentrate on staying up again this year then take it from there <ok> Don't get too carried away just yet.
