Of course, but several people on this thread have claimed we're only being linked with 'mid-table' targets. This is simply not true.
When you aren't able to sign the top players in a transfer window like Man City and Chelsea are able to do (and Man Utd to a lesser extent) then you have to gamble on players from smaller teams. There's no other type of player you can go for, you just have to hope the players are able to step up from the smaller platform of a midtable club to somewhere like Liverpool where the glare of the media is much more intense and everything you do is analysed by the second. Thats what Spurs did for the years before Redknapp and its currrently paying off nicely for them, so why not for Liverpool too.
Well being linked and actually get signatures on paper is totally different , as you seem to enjoy being on here and just to keep you up to date our 3rd quality signing completed today at prices far less than we'll be asking for Joe
Surely you should wait for him to play before gloating? Heck Morientes had over a 100 La Liga goals before he joined us yet he was awful for us infront of goal. Michu had one good season, he could be a player who's been unlucky throughout his career and only now had his breakthrough but his record does make this season for him look a little bit of a one off. We shall see, will be interesting to see how Swansea's new players adapt to the PL, they have the potential to be excellent, which is more than can be said of the usual premier league signings managers (Steve Bruce etc) when they stick with signing expensive English players like Bramble, Kieron Richardson, Zamora, Heskey etc who have found clubs for their whole careers despite being ordinary players.
Players being 'linked' was the issue raised by several posters, not by me. I accept that the actual transfers will matter a whole lot more. Also, 'quality' of signings is all relative, isn't it? The assertion by several people was that we are being linked with 'mid-table' players. This is not true, simple. For the record I think you're operating very well this summer, don't get me wrong.
Still can't believe we paid £35M for him. The only positive way to look at it is in the light of the Torres cash. Chelsea essentially bought us Andy Carroll + 15M. I'd be happy to see him leave for £17-20M as long as it is reinvested in a better, or more fitting striker/winger.
