It drops down from the top, presuming you are so interested in *sticks finger down throat* Team GB and everything else to do with the Bollympics. As if I wasn't already mightily ****ed off with the BBC today for their obedient lapdog reporting of Simon Harwood getting away with murder when anyone with half a brain can see he's guilty and, as per usual, got off...
I've updated the OP to reflect Ledley's retirement Cheers Ledley - always a legend and thrilled to hear that he'll be staying on in a different role.
Sigh everything's ground to a halt whilst the Modric deal progresses. Still - http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...ng-spain-midfielder-modric-replacement-176942 That rumour is also on the mirror website so perhaps it has a little more substance than idle gossip.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/luka-modric-transfer-stand-off-looms-1150280 According to this, Perez says that they won't pay any more than â¬35mil for Modric - just over £27mil at current rates. So, it looks like, once again, that little Luka may not be going anywhere. The problem being, of course, is that he's not going to be a happy bunny!..
..Or rat boy. All the players at the club should currently be feeling the love about Ledders and feeding off it. Obviously not him or his feral agent!
Don't know if any truth in this but I really hope we get rid soon!! http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...to-train-yesterday-because-he-s-not-psycholog
Read somewhere also that he has stated the he won't travel to the U.S. with the rest of the team. I have been rather ambivalent about this whole saga, but now if all this is true, then I think Levy or AVB should impose sanctions on him and remind him who is still paying his wages. And until its resolved he can go and play with the academy kids!!
Twat, if true. He signed a 6 year deal and has 4 years left with the offer of an improved contract on the table. If he wants to leave, fine but they have to meet Levy's price and he should accept that. Luka might think it's a fair price for him but he's biased and he knows we turned down more than Real are supposedly offering from Chelsea last year. Last summer he had his heart set on staying in London and so wanted to move to Chelsea, now he's changed his mind and really wants to go to Real, he's getting as bad as Keane. The worst thing is that he's being disrespectful to his teammates, I'd have no qualms in us sending him out on loan to Tranmere and letting him run down the last 4 years of his contract there
Do you not think Madrid's price is fair? You'll never get Levy's asking price, which is probably the whole point of it. He's lost a year on his contract, his value will go down.
His Price is what Levy deems him to be worth, he still has 4 years left on his contact so the extra year will not effect his value, its quite simple if they dont want to pay what we want for him they wont be getting him.
His value to us is directly proportionate to what it costs to replace him. last year we wanted 40m - didn't happen this year 35m next probably 30m then with 2years left probs 25m for a 28 (in his prime) year old Luka Modric. If he is sold, not a problem. If he is kept, happy days. The club always should act in the way that benefits the club, not the player. We are not letting a Barcelona fan go back to his boyhood team like Fabregas & Madrid are not short of money. If he doesn't want to train then F*** him. See how many people think he is worth signing with an attitude like that.
Always the assumption that the worst scenario is true. It may be the case but I'll wait for it to be verified, admitted or denied before making a judgement.
For our key player who has 4 years left on his deal and easily has another 8 years in him? No. Supposedly Moutinho, who we'd see as his replacement, would cost more so we'd be daft to let him go cheap.
Perez might have been posturing, especially as they could throw players into the deal and still claim to have not paid more than €35m. With the likes of PSG apparently still interested, despite spending a ton of cash already, we're still in a position of strength. Don't want to pay what he's valued at? Then stop trying to negotiate, constantly banging on about him in the press and having your players do the same.
[NSFW][/NSFW] His history shows that if Levy doesn't get his price, players don't go anywhere. He held out with Berbatov right until the last minute. Utd blinked first, and Levy got his price.
Chelsea blinked too but Levy realised his mistake with Berba and told them it was too late. Plus they'd already pissed him off.
I think that was a major factor in the Chelsea case. Their underhand tactics of trying to force through a transfer using the press, did not go down at all
No doubt Levy is a good businessman and has done well for you guys. But really, nearly £30M for Modric, you should take that and reinvest it. Ozil, Cabaye and VDV cost less combined than that, didn't they?
