Decent post until here.

Disagree that it is as clear cut as it being now or never. Over the top to suggest for a 23 year old that this year is to be complete success or complete failure. I would say the two outcomes for Adel this season is Complete success or same as last season which means a bad period and a very good period.

agree PD, but the problem is the hype he's had and he's believed himself.
At 23 yrs old he's got plenty of time to develop, but i fear with all the hype he wont get that time.
He was "sold" as the new mesiah to the prem ater a great championship season. He hasnt lived up to that and may not for a few years.
For the record, a very good period of 8 max games has no relevance of the bad part of his season.

As stated, he has the tools, he has no excuses, he had to put up of shut up...full stop

Absolutely no doubt in my mind that the new contract was a deal highly influenced by TF no matter how much he says he does not get involved in that side of things (see Cisse's comments for other examples). I'm not saying that MH does not see his potential but equally he can be a handful for any manager and he must have thought twice. The real challenge is for the two of them to work together for an extended period. With application and a good run in the first team he will undoubtedly go on to be the new Zidane. But there is still the potential for a train wreck.

Zidane and Tarbs in the same sentence..o come on..

Watched a lot of ZIZU's career and never had these troubles....Or Messi.or...?

He could be good, but under no delusions personally...!!

I hear your point about him still only being 23, but I believe if he has a poor run, say 8 matches where he offers nothing, he will be dropped and will really struggle to get back in the team as we are not short of options anymore. Why would Hughes persevere with Adel when he doesn’t need to?

Anyway my money is on him hitting the ground running and, after destroying Swansea on the opening day of the season, delivering far more often than not.

Its so refreshing to hear common sense being spoken on here. Makes a change from the usual Taarabt-worshipping drivel we get.

Its a wonder COL ain't been on yet, blowing steam out his ears ;)

Funny you should say that..................

Very good post Roller, although you fail to mention what affect Barton may have had on his confidence. Those of us who were at the home games witnessed first hand how Barton would under-mine Taarabt at every opportunity!!
There's a lot of bollocks talked about Taarabt, usually by Swords and Queens, but I just hope that he's not completely hammered as soon as he has a poor game! Hopefully, the new contract and the club's obvious faith in him will spur him on to great things next season.
Taarabt is worth the entrance money for me and my son more than any other!!

Barton was there all season, so would who say that Hughes controlled him better than Warnock and offered Taarabt some protection from him, or when Taarabt started playing better Barton got off his case?

I think the ACON was a God-send for Adel. He was able to get away and when he returned MH was in charge and week on week, we all saw an improvement from Taarabt. Meanwhile, Barton got the bird against Liverpool and MH hauled him off. We turned the game around and that was probably the turning point for us. Barton was now having to walk in Taarabt's shoes, suffering what he described himself as a massive loss of confidence! Taarabt went from strength to strength and Barton ended up doing what he did at City!!

Its neither. Its a canard. If the man needs protection from one of his team mates, there's something wrong with him.

They'll just keep rolling out one excuse after another when he doesn't perform or throws a strop. Its everything and everyone else's fault.

Never his.

And here we have further evidence of the bollocks!!
Football, as with all sport is very much a confidence thing. The game is played in the head as much as physically. I witnessed first hand the **** Barton dished out to Taarabt game after game. Some people can say bollox and get on with it whilst others are affected by it. Even Barton, who you would imagine would be in the "bollox to 'em" category admitted that his confidence was shot and that it badly affected his performances.
The great man-managers know who to bollock and who to praise. We all react differently!!

This is spot on. Everybody reacts differently when under pressure/spotlight. A good manager/leader knows exactly what makes his people tick.

While this is changing subjects completely, can I just throw Warnock and Traore into your comment here. Warnock got rounded slagged off for his treatment of Traore after Armand was sent off against Villa, but does your comment about man management fit that circumstance. I reckon that Warnock is a brilliant man-manager.
