Well yes that was the last time we played one of the big clubs so a repeat would be nice.

You dont know that they will score though, we can play 5 in midfield while restricting their play and getting forward a lot ourselves using Ireland, Jonas and Barton, all supporting Shola, who will score with good service.

I think we should use the same tactics we used against Arsenal. Wait until we are 4 down to create a challenge and then start playing

  7. Yes mate, but you misundertood me.

Why do you think Blackpool have played so well all through the season and are still fighting relegation? It's because they don't consider their opponents strengths and weaknesses, and go all out attacking try and score as many goals as possible, but they don't think of the consequences of not scoring from a move. They get picked off on the counter and get caught out playing a high line. Their 5-3 loss vs Everton says it all really.

What we should do is play patiently, creatively and knock in a couple of goals, but keep United as quite as possible. They are extremely effective on the counter, and we've been infamous for missing chances and not being able to shut out our opponents. So we'll most likely get caught on the counter alot if we try and attack United too much.

    Easier said than done though;

"all right lads, just knock it about, be patient, then stick a couple of goals past Man U"
"are you sure we're up to it, boss?"
"dont be silly, we've got Shola up front, the goals will flow"

I liked that until I saw Saylor at right back. He seems to think right back means he can be Dani Alves and spend half his time in the opposition box, thinking he's going to score.

I am not picking Danny Simpson who supports Man Utd, he is going to watch them in the FA Cup at Wembley Saturday, was talking about Man Utd on Sky Sports News today he would help them.

He's a professional footballer for Newcastle, he will want to beat Man Utd to make a point. He is a Man Utd fan so he is still allowed to go and watch them, didn't David Kelly and Robbie Elliott still go to Newcastle games after they'd left us.

He's a professional footballer and will be desperate to show Man U what they're missing. If he does badly (especially intentionally) then he looks awful, is shown up on his return to Man U and is maybe even dropped. If this was the case would you not play Barton v Everton, or Nolan v Liverpool? Same situation, he's allowed to support Man U.

Even though this is about the 10th article you have made on the subject Tash.... I will still put in my 2 cents..

I agree with your 4-5-1 lineup aslong as Steven Taylor is nowhere to be seen, the rest of the team is fine though.

I agree with Pardew about going at them, why not? theres nothing to lose really because either way we're probably going to get turned over so we may aswell go down swinging and perhaps we might, might just nick a point.

4-1 to Man Utd would be my predo.

Hopefully Enrique scores the winner then runs off the pitch and signs a new contract :) Followed by Barton and co.

  19. To be fair, in his first 3 matches back he had 3 headers on target, and was unlucky not to score against Chelsea, and hit the bar vs Wigan and WBA.

I have no problem with him going forward for an attack, but he just got frustrated with his fullback role and decided to go in to the box when he should have hung back.

Taylor is a better CB than Williamson, but since this bull**** comes up about a good partnership with Colo and Williamson, and "lets not disrupt the line up", he'll never get in unless Williamson gets an injury.

He comes close to scoring all the time, and is almost as threatening on goal as Colo is.

To be fair, Williamson is just as threatening at set pieces, except he is an easier target for Barton to hit, and could have had 3-5 goals this year as well, so the whole Saylor goal threat thing isnt sold on me, he's only ever got 10 goals for us.

Getting forward is fine, but Enrique is a lesson in how much a full back should get forward, Saylor just doesnt stop and is often the furthest forward player on the pitch, which is ludicrous for a defender.

Saylor has terrible positional awareness and his decision making is appalling at times, that is why I wouldnt drop Williamson, who has been very solid. Nothing to do with his partnership with Colo, which is good and does exist. The partnership isnt a factor for me though because Colo is a class act and very adaptable.
