Just sitting here wondering about where Junior Hoilett will play if he joins and why Mark hughes thinks we need him. We have Park, Taarabt, Faurlin, Diakete, Mackie (Barton after xmas) Derry and SWP. What does everyone think the starting midfield will look like and what the formation will be?
You can take Derry and Phillips out of that conundrum because they'll only be bit-part players. So that leaves five players for a whole season of midfield. Sounds alright to me.
Mackie and Faurlin on the bench - where they should be. Yes they are not bad players but we have better now.
Faurlin is still comfortably good enough for this team. People don't appreciate just how good he is. He was one of the best midfielders in the league before his injury, though much depends on him recovering to the level he was at. Mackie will be a top squad player and get a few starts too I'm sure. As for Hoilett, nailed on to start on either wing or off the striker.
I just wonder whether MH sees Faurlin in a more creative role, his ability to pick a pass was glaringly missed after his injury. Hoilett will be either wide or play off the striker. We really are opening up so many options now...
Why should Faurlin be on the bench??????? this guy is pure class some of the long balls and passes he picks out is unreal.
If it is a midfield four then I'd go Park-Faurlin-Diakite-Hoilett but expect a three in the middle of Park, Faurlin and Diakite with Taarabt and Hoilett either side of Cisse. Faurlin won't be fit for Swansea though.
Midfield = Faurlin, Diakite plus 2 Hopefully the signing of Hoilett will signal the departure of SWP, who has been a huge disappointment
Picked out ... Faurlin has to come back from the mother of all injuries as well as discover form and match fitness Big ask anytime before October and MH doesn't rush his players back Without doubt he is the plans but so is Dyer ... Class player if he gets back
I think we'll probably have Adel one side and Junior on the other, both with a free role to come inside. But then Park is right mid, many Man Utd fans said he's ineffective in the middle. It's just so hard to guess what formation or team we will be fielding now, but what a nice change to be spoiled for choice.
SWP is a stayer not going anywhere and fully expect him to come back to a good form ... If this current team clicks then the momentum is going to surprise a lot of people IMO
