Could it be one of Huw's smokescreens?

Could be a replacement should Allen be going to Liverpool, I can't imagine us adding 3 midfielders without any leaving

Quite a few of us on this board put in a shout for him in the pre Laudrup days. I thought he was impressive in a poor Bolton side - very busy player that got on the end of things in and around the box. We could do far worse than this guy.

So at some point we need depth. This guy or Gower, who do you want on the bench.

Is He really the right fit or is this yet another moronic media person scrambling to fill column inches.

I haven't had a chance (with work, life, etc.) to keep a very close eye on who we've had in, so who are the three midfielders? De Guzman, Michu and ...
    Flores is a defender.

That said, we lost Sigurdsson. He may not have been 'ours', but he was instrumental in the second half of last season. Unless we signed someone else, we're only gaining one midfielder and from the comments I've seen, Michu could also play up front.

What we're probably seeing is a complete midfield revamp by Laudrup. A change from two deep lying midfielders and an attacking one to just a solitary deep midfielder, one box to box player and one attacking midfielder or "support striker". We'll still be playing an attractive, possession based game, but one with a lot more attacking intent, which is what we needed.

Of course, that will mean some players, players who may have featured regularly under Rodgers may become surplus. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gower move on along with the likes of Orlandi, and Leon may not get as much game time as he did last season.

I've said in other threads I thought Davies looked a good player. Bit like a younger Britton in my opinion. Could just be journos putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 vis-a-vis Allen to Liverpool meaning we'll need a replacement. Obviously Laudrup has seen our lack of strength in depth and figured we can't be lucky with injuries for a second season and we need some better cover.

Great players are consistent. Gower isn't, wasn't and never will be.

<laugh> Can't really argue with that, but I associate Mark Gower with pre-Premier League Swansea and I'm having a problem letting it go.

Chico, Michu, Miku, Guzman - I need a pair of comfy old slippers like Mark Gower to cling on to. :emoticon-0105-wink:
