Very fine player indeed and it speaks volumes for his character and courage that he kept on playing and maintaining his very high standards long after the time when many players would have jacked it in.

A true legend who is also an excellent role model and a supremely talented professional. A great ambassador for both Spurs and the English game. I think he's the last of a dying breed of true one-club-men, which is a real shame. It speaks volumes about both the man and his quality on the field that fans of our rivals are coming onto this board to pay their respects to him. Ledley King, you will be missed. The sooner he comes into a coaching role with us the better IMO, his reading of the game was second to none.
QPR fan in peace... Very sad day for football, when a great servant to the game has to retire. Was at Ledley Kings last game at Loftus Road, and he was immense the whole game. Forget about losing Moderic...Ledley King will be biggest loss to Spurs this coming season. Respect Stan

Let's be honest HIAG, you won't be able to resist a cheeky dig at us! - Back on topic, he was an outstanding defender. Those injuries took their toll, as they would, and he wasn't able to show people that quality he had week-in, week-out. Think just about every football fan knew the quality was there. Shame to see him retire and nice to see Spurs have given him another job within the club.
I suspect you are correct, sir! But that is all it ever is, though. Just a cheeky dig. Nothing personal or malicious. For example, I know that not all of you get out your Cilla Black records and dance on the streets of Merseyside on those rare occasions these days when something good happens to your club. Some of you do do that, I am sure, but I know it's probably not the majority of you. It's as you say, just a cheeky dig.

Like many I think he was the best English CB of his time. The win streak with him playing last year, as bad as his knees were, says it all. I'd like to turn back the clock and see what would have happened if he'd had his knees treated from the start by Freddie Fu or other local (to me) talent. My country and region have their weaknesses, but any advanced or complicated medical procedure I wouldn't trust anyone else to do. I hope Spurs continue to remember his class and loyalty. It seems to me he's perfect for coaching defensive players now, and could make an excellent manager some day.
