The news we all wanted to hear!

Hopefully he can continue to improve his fitness during this tour and continue the recovery.

I read this and was very pleased to hear it... i have to wonder how fit he'll be compared to the others and how soon he'll be up to speed. it'd be great to think he's getting a full preseason in bascially.

who knows..... the doctors etc can only keep monitoring him. he could break down if he was out for a year either.

9 months though with Liverpool's $ and medical facilities etc?? Seems really long and 7 seems a bit more normal. My misses just tore her ACL and meniscus and the doc said 6 months to be back to playing again.

Also depends on the body, some people take a while to get back some people get the recovery done a lot quicker. Same with most injuries really.

  9. My ankle ligaments haven't healed and I did them over five years ago! Although, that probably as something to do with me only resting it for two months at the most <whistle>

Did he do anything else other than the ACL or did he blow the whole ****ing thing up?

Almost immediately after the surgery they had my misses in Physical therapy been a month now and she already has the brace off and walking around pretty normal and can put body weight on it. I think that is key as well is how quick after the surgery you get back to business and don't let the scar tissue cling to those muscles and that. <ok>

    Trust me.................................I'm a doctor. <yikes>

    it was just the ACL.

my understanding re my sister doing said injury seeing she is even moreinjured than moreinjuredthanowen is:

    1. the ACL is mostly required to hold the joint together under turning, twisting etc. you can walk easily without one.. in a straight line.

    2. swelling is one key issue, the faster it goes down the sooner you can operate and as soon as you're healed up after then the sooner you can rehab.

    3. getting oxygen to the repair is the vital part. rehabing in a warm brazil might have helped.

    thats all i know....

pretty much, keeping the knee moving and doing your daily exercises as well to help with swelling, scar tissue, and atrophy of the muscles as well. The swelling can take a while, massages are good for that as well ( hands are ****ing tired these days!).

bang on with anything Straight, Basically the ACL is right in the middle of where the femur and tib-fib bones connect and once that blows you have to take either A) part of your patella tendon out to replace the done ACL ( hence the big scar in the front of the knee) or B) take a cadaver ACL which you can make any length and have a better chance of going back to the way it ws better before BUT your body might not take the ligamnet, infection, disease, etc so it is not the safest route.

But there is no on top action as the knee can't bend like that yet or take that sort of, um, pounding. <laugh>

Chinese swing was already purchased so no worries <ok>
