I can't really see Rosenior as captain, full-back position isn't ideal for this role but he is an intelligent guy, very well spoken in interviews..

We won't sign Bullard IMO, we have been looking at the above though.

Only if the rest of the wage budget comes down to less than £6M, otherwise our wage budget will already be eating into the parachute payment.

You've also got to remember that next summer the parachute payments drop to £8M a year so the wage bill needs to be set up for that possibility as well.

Ricardo, don't forget the contracts that finish this summer! A lot of them are PL wages, so a good chunk will be saved on high-earners coming off the books. If another couple of players, that are still on "big bucks", are sold/leave on a "free", then even more money is freed up for players wages, i.e., we could pay 5 x £9k out of Bullards wages!

the first thing that came to mind when I saw this subject line was:

    "...packet of sweets, cheeky smile..."

but I have probably got the wrong end of the stick

I'm not forgetting them. Without parachute payments we can break even with a wage bill of about £4.5M, based on us previously having a £4M target with 17k average gate. For us to be able to spend £16M extra on our summer signings we'd need our wage budget to be back in that region.

As it stands Bullard (45k), Olof (22k, lowest I've seen), Ghilas (16k), Kilbane (13k), and McShane (20k+) are earning £6M between them. That means we're already down to £13.5M from the parachute payment without considering any of the other players we have under contract.

For the following season we've still got about £5.25M committed to those players (the saving being Kilbane's contract ending), only that season our total expenditure will be restricted to £12.5M (so £7.25M wage bill for the useful squad).

We have to really consider the £7.25M wage bill as the cap for the main body of the squad for next season, and we already have a fair few players in place. (Fees can be paid on top as they're one off, but it's a good guideline to use)
