Nice one, SuperC. Why 29 games, though? As for the charity, perhaps we could poll a few if needs be. My usual charities are OCD-UK, NSPCC, RNLI, Marie Curie and Epilepsy Research. Oh yeah, I have been away for a month and no sod even noticed. Charming.
Ummm guys unless I've missed something these Formations have one slight issue... We're still in the Football League so we're still only allowed 5 subs
I think we didnt use Kermorgant right anyway. He was brought to cover Steve Howard but they are totally different players, Howard was all physical and was a good old fashioned centre forward We always seen Kermorgant had good technical ability but he was thrown on at times and was expected to do the same as Steve Howard. Kermorgant will be forever hated here for that penalty in play offs and his reaction afterwards when he didnt understand what he had done wrong. As for us next season we look decent and have got quite alot of strikers now with Futacs and Vardy signing. We just need some centre halfs after selling Mills and Bamba and letting Tunchev leave. There is still quite a bit of business to be done here and with the backing of the owners we will be able to use the loan market and the January window well to help improve as we need it over the season. I think play offs at least for us this year.
Because I think he will have a ratio of 1 in 3 or better. There is a method to my madness somewhere. I noticed your silence through the scaremongering threads. Was curious to actually hear your thoughts? Although it now seems to have cleared and all the ''facts'' can be quietly swept under the rug.
You've read my mind Jimmy... Only one I weren't sure of was BWP on the left of a front three. Depending on how Cook comes on that could be his gig.
I think the 433/451 is progressive, but i'll leave the tactics to Chris, he seems to know what he's doing
With the 4-3-3 i think we have a lot of strength in depth. Pritchard is a workhorse so would be a good player to rely on if we want the likes of JJ or Hollands to play more open attacking football. Plus with Evina he could provide cover on the left side as well, i said on a thread before i would quite like to see Evina and Wiggins down the left hand side and swapping positions with each other to keep the oppositions right side from getting comfortable. Both have pace and an eye for getting forward, would like to see it at some point in pre-season but doubt it. Still feel an out and out left winger is our priority, and at least one more central midfielder and centre back are needed to be fully comfortable.
Hmm, I am not so sure. He has been brilliant at talent spotting (and "talent spotting endorsement") and great at motivation and inculcating club and team spirit. But I think the jury is still out on his abilities as a tactician. Dropping Solly against Stevenage, belated and some times strange use of subs, falling too deep when trying to defend a lead and some other things suggest he is not yet a master tactician.
Left midfielder, yes, but not an "out and out left winger", please. Too much of a luxury. Gives me nightmares of a cut-price version of Stewart Downing trotting out to perform marvels one game in twenty. I always thought we would sign Wordsworth but that hope seems to be receding fast. If Lee Cook is not fixed up by the start of the season we could sign him on a "pay for play" basis. When fit he is certainly good enough and CP clearly likes him.
Of course we have, Ponders - it's just that we've got used to the demands on your time from your many outside interests. Lovely to have you back.
In his article on the OS today Chris 'sort of says' that we had agreed fees on some players but failed to agree packages with players because of their demands! Perhaps Wordsworth was one of these? Ackers was quite sure we had signed Wordsworth some weeks ago?
Ponders! I did notice you had gone (only to re-emerge on the rather "political" Clarke Carlisle thread ) Incidentally (as with Super), I'd be curious to hear your opinions on the whole "we're broke, we're going into administration, selling all of our best players to our rivals, selling the tea-lady to an Eastern European sex workers ring, but first let's go out and hire 10 new staff and 2 players" debate. ProudFox, what was Kermorgants reaction after the penalty? He spoke about it in a programme a few months ago. Seemed to feel guilty for it, but also made the (rather naïve) point that he'd scored lots of penalties like that over in France.
Thank you, Tewks. Time is at a premium, but I was missing the banter and the Clarke Carlisle thread was just too tempting. It appears that I have stopped that one dead in its tracks. WWOCB and SuperC: If the 'Charlton in crisis' subject shows its ugly head again, then I shall make comment. But I think it has been pretty well covered. I did keep up to date with it though, and the inter-forum exchanges were superb entertainment. I think our forum came out of it with great integrity and completely showed the other up as a bunch of inane nerks. I am off to Bury St Edmunds tomorrow to conduct a talk at a local historical society. I have a rather interesting theory regarding Abbo of Fleury and his time spent in England. I may just shock a few...!
Stewart Downing is not even worthy of being considered a footballer at the moment In all seriousness though when i say left winger i mean left midfielder, they seem to be one and the same thing now. Though these days left midfielders tend to be tosh unless they can get forward and have a bit of pace. JJ is a prime example, has all the technical ability but completely lacks the level of pace needed to play out wide. With the 4-3-3 formation seeming to be the future for us, it is an absolute priority to get a left winger.
Abbo of Fleury. A very great man. Almost single-handedly he prevented the end of the world as we know it in the year 1000. Spent his time in England planning a Millenium Dome and was killed in a brawl between monks supporting different factions in an early version of football played with pigs bladders.
