My point isn't that our attack is perfect at this point, but that there are so many other positions that we need to cover, that I wouldn't start worrying about more strikers yet. When we have signed a big first choice defender, two wingers and maybe a centre mid and there are still funds available then we can talk about a 5th striker, but with gaping holes still in the squad I don't think we should prioritise padding out the squad with more strikers.
It's not really a case of that though is it, we're covering the gaps in the squad as well. Centre back we've offered a deal to Faye, so we can't do anything about that until he gets back to us (unless he takes ages). Central midfield we have 4, or 5 if you count Koren, and are supposed to be after Tunnicliffe. I'd rather go with what we have, give Cairney more game time so that McKenna and Evans don't get ****ed like last season, and add our first choice if we get chance than just sign someone we don't rate as highly and then have our first choice go to one of our rivals because we didn't wait. Wingers, we're apparently trying to go with wingbacks instead (a few sources, but could all have come from the same original source). If we need to change and go with a 4 man midfield you've got Dudgeon who can move up with Daws behind him, Stewart, and Koren. If we go to a 5 man midfield you've also got McLean and Simpson. You wouldn't want a run of games with Simpson/McLean/Koren out wide, but if it's our reserve tactic it'll be used to change things, or for specific games rather than being a regular event. Up front though we're one injury away from having the exact same problems we've had for the last two years, and we're relying on a foreign player coming over here and settling in to solve it whilst there's an experianced player who can support the role well available on a free transfer.
Yeah i just read that too, well that scuppers that theory. I just thought as the Mail broke the Proschwitz story this one probably had some credence, I reckon we probably are still interested though.
To be fair Buckingham and White (Blunderside) have bee right with the vast majority of rumours going round this Summer.
I totally agree on the midfield. If we play Cairney a bit more he can be like a new signing, but if he's going to be ignored still then we need to sign someone in midfield who can play a bit, because Evans/McKenna as a partnership is just too negative. On the wingers though I totally disagree. Dudgeon, Simpson and McLean can all play on the wing but they aren't wingers as such and right now we have one specialist winger, we need more than that, probably 2 more.
How likely is this? I think he would destroy the Championship... I'd swap him for mclean or even fryatt any day
Looks like the mystery man was Sone Aluko, who would you believe can play on the wing. Great signing if we have got him. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ KINGSELLER WORLD OF COLLECTABLES www.kingseller.org.uk
Bang on dazed. When we have an injury or 2, we want more than just someone who is just filling in until the injured player heels. Hell he could be out for 6 months and then we will be in the smelly brown stuff. Let's get in 5 quality strikers
