fair post mate. but its all relative isn't it - howson and snodgrass have been two of your best players of the last five years. we aren't talking about players of the calibre of rio ferdinand or mark viduka or seth johnson
I always give fair assessments of players that leave and you will find that what I said about Johnson and Howson where true Snodgrass has amazing skill struggles with fitness around christmas time and not sure if the lack of pace will hinder him in the Premiership. Howson and Snodgrass really deserved a better chairman at Leeds and they both couldve got us back to the premiership and then we couldve offloaded them to you when they werent good enough anymore
It would be logical because he would have spoken with Howson and got the run down on the set-up there. I cannot praise enough what Lambert did for Norwich, he certainly got more out of both Johnson and Howson compared to what Grayson managed to do, will Norwich still be the place to go without Lambert - Time will tell On another note and out of interest, any rumours or anything factual regarding interest for Norwich players by Lambert now he is with Villa?
There were rumours he wanted Howson - our CE said he's not for sale and still has a three year contract. There were rumours he wanted Ruddy - he signed a new four year contract with an option for a fifth year. There were rumours he wanted Holt - he signed a new three year contract. If he wants our players, he is going to have to pay way over the odds, especially after the way he left.
By all accounts an improved bid was offered last night, an offer to match the clubs evaluation (Leeds that is), the saga continues
Likely because our takeover is about to happen. Probably a last ditch attempt to get Snoddy as in a few days your lot won't be able to compete with us financially, even being in premiership
bitter much? do you realise that ipswich have a billionaire owner yet we aren't too worried about their financial muscle! seriously though, i really hope leeds takeover goes through in the near future - your fans deserve a properly run club, not like how ken runs it
Bit embarrassing that Eire, you sound like a Leicester fan from last summer. Even if we did get a billionaire owner, and it's a big if, it guarantees nothing.
Leicester also crossed my mind. Money does not = success or provide the ability to simply shut the door to bids from other clubs
To be fair I don't think Eire was being bitter I think he was being truthful if you really want Snoddy you need to get some decent offers in quick cos once the takeover happens you will have less chance of getting him.
Depends on a number of things I guess. What sort of offers will the "new Leeds" be able to make to make him want to stay? (assuming the take over does happen) Has his head be turned far enough already to not want to stay if he gets the chance to play in the PL immediately? Will this current offer actually be enough to prize him away from ER? and probably a few other things. The only reason I can see him wanting to leave is being able to showcase himself in the PL next season. If he really is happy to sit it out at ER and see what new players come in then good luck to him. His personal ambition will be the key in the case.
Norwich haven't done too much wrong to be fair, every club starts off with a low bid to test the water, then increase accordingly. And they're in the PL on merit, so credit to them.
Exactly. Hopefully the difference will be, we will lose the restricted wage structure. If we have a class player like Snoddy, or in the case of Howson and Max, we will be able to compete in terms of wages. In the end, thats all players care about and they may be right. For seven years, we haven't been able to compete with anyone. Point I was making is once takeover goes through, we will be an infinitely better prospect players and clubs like Norwich won't be able to simply walk in and pick whoever they want from our squad. For me, that has been one of the most frustrating parts of the past seven years, even mores than our results
fact is, if he wants to play in the top flight next season, he'll leave regardless of the takeover. good comments leedsinessex - you're right, we are testing the water and now it seems a more acceptable offer has been made we'll see leeds resolve. we are clearly very keen on the lad - its our 4th bid in two years!
again, you miss the point. wages are important but if the player wants premier league football that'll be the key. we don't pay much in wages anyway - he'd get far more elsewhere! its about being given the chance he may well have dreamed about - to play in the premier league, and no matter what you say about the takeover, it does not guarantee top flight football.
Not missing the point. Main reason they want premiership football is the wages. Most couldn't give a ****e where they're playing a la Harry Kewell
true to a degree, certainly of many players, but as i say, i doubt he'd earn any more at norwich than he would at leeds. didn't you offer him £20k a week? if he leaves for norwich it will be because he wants to play top flight football, not because he's a greedy so-and-so
The difference between us and Leicester is one Neil Warnock, and we've seen what happens when he has money to spend in the Championship. If Snoddy feels he wants PL football now then fair enough, he deserves it and has already stayed with us longer than he needed to, but I can't help feeling he'd be better off staying here than going to Norwich.
