We have no idea who we will sign but have a never ending list linked in numerous rags, Collins being the latest.

Now I would guess that few are setting the pulse racing but who would?

Try to keep it real and achievable, within budget, whatever that is so name me one player who would get you punching the air if you saw him holding up the red and white shirt.

For me it would be Johnson.

I'd love Johnson, but I'm really keen on us moving for Van Wolfswinkel.

I think he could be the man.

For the record, Collins put in the best CB performance I have ever seen at the SOL whilst at West Ham 3-4 years back, I think he's underrated, and would be delighted to see him on board.

Tina & Titus can go, I like both, but Tina's lack of pace and inability on the ball means he should be a victim of progress, Titus? I just can't believe there's no fire behind that much smoke.

Defoe and Fletcher. If Reading fancy their chances getting Defoe why not get him and Fletcher had a good season in a poor wolves team

Collins, Fletcher, Johnson, RVW (just to make Mons happy), Olsson and N'Zonzi plus Sess staying, would have me harder than tash and cheiks **** caked keks.

Agree, it's not exciting, but it's what's needed, he's a cut above the existing, and that's how we move forward.

'would have me harder than tash and cheiks **** caked keks'

    This did make me chuckle.

World class he is bot, probably not international class, but he should be a great premier league winger.

Downing or Hoilett (Johnson on loan would only be a short term solution, so rather have one of these two)
NZonzi would certainly give us a physical presence but not sure about the the craft and creativity we seek ...... still feel he would be a good buy and think Colback may provide the craft if MON plays him further forward.
A left back, but not bothered who from those mentioned Olsen or Anita
Wolfswinkel and Fletcher ................. can't see Defoe and Sess being a workable combination, but Sess could play off either of the other two

None of those mentioned even get me off my settee never mind punching the air. One of the lads said that someone always finds something wrong with any prospective signing and that we are not a top ten team so we should be happy with the Fletchers of this world etc. etc. For me the Fletchers of the world will not improve us, they will not get us into the top 10/9/8 which is what we aspire to, quick question what top ten team has Fletcher played for? Okay that may be harsh but, mediocre players will get us a mediocre finish. We need to invest in good players who will excite people like me who are wholly underwhelmed by the players we have been linked with, good players who will get us into the top ten. The barcodes did it last season to very good effect so why can't we this season with a few relatively unknown players instead of the dross we have been linked with?

As for the original question Sturridge

Sunderland. Never fail to buy players from relegated sides. Not having a dig, just throwing an opinion out, feel free to ignore me I won't take it to heart. Vaughan, Gardener, Turner? Larsson etc. Then this year you want to cherry pick from the relegated teams again, Fletcher, N'Zonzi, Olsson, Hoilett. IMO this just doesn't work, players who have just been relegated, on the whole, do not have the right mentality to succeed with other clubs. I think if you look at these kind of transfers to all clubs, the players success (or not) at their new club will back up my point. There are exceptions, obviously.

Agreed totally... However... Collins is a serial fouler. Jumps into the back of players 5+ times per game. Seems immune to punishment at Villa - would he be given the same leniency in a Sunderland shirt? I doubt it

Hoilett is the only one that really excites me. I rate the lad but not at £100k a week as has been mentioned!! He's good but not as good as Sessegnon

Turner was from Hull when they were still in the league.

I do agree with your point though, you don't see the top clubs in the league looking at players from the relegated clubs (the odd exception obviously). If we want to be a top club, which we all aspire to b,e then we have to start thinking and acting like one.
