Okay, we can play that game too.

Reports from a pc somewhere in Hampshire claim that Fulham FC have today signed Steven Gerrard on a free transfer from Liverpool. The man with the schoolboy haircut and perpetual air of disappointment was quoted as saying*, 'This is the biggest day of my career. Mr Hodgson told me how good going to Fulham was for him and what a nightmare time he had at Liverpool, so this has to be seen as a step upwards for me. I like that Mr Hodgson, he knows what he's talking about and he made me captain instead of that nasty sweary man who keeps making me give up the back seat of the team bus for him and his mates Frank and Ashley.'

In other news, Fulham are also believed to be signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luca Modric, Mario Balotelli and one of the Chuckle brothers (not sure which one - confirmation to follow).

    * Legal disclaimer, some or all of this quote may be inaccurate, misattributed or completely invented. And when we say 'may', we mean 'is'.

Very strange, not really sure what to make of this. There must be truth in some kind of negotiations if Fenway went and put an article on their website.

Okay, well spotted Bandit: that was the bit that was made up. The rest of it is rock solid.

Sounds like there's been some confusion in the Fenway Sports Office. John Henry said to someone 'get me that American forward from Fulham for £10m', they've gone out and signed Eddie Johnson for £10m by mistake.

Nice one Captain - I've also heard from a reliable source that Steven Gerrard has been spotted also in Putney house hunting. Seems your report might be true.

Haha, it was like there was repelling magnets in Eddie's foot and the ball. I remember when Hughes joined and gave him a few chances in the first team- physically he was a beast, technically he was :(

    There's two possibilities here:

    A. The deal's been in the works for a few days and is all but finished - signatures and the transfer of money will seal the deal. But some enterprising (and now unemployed) analyst over at Fenway jumped the gun and "pushed" a story that's already been written.

    B. Clint Dempsey and two nuns when out drinking. When his back was turned, one of them slipped him a mickey. When he woke up a few hours later, he floating in a pool of icewater and his liver was missing.

Think there's been an approach but no formal bid... That would explain things.

The interesting thing about those pics, Cottager, is that the red shirts seem to be the second-string (Gecov, Halliche, Baird), while the yellows seem to be the firsts (Riise, Hangeland). Although you were joking about it, perhaps that is an actual sign that the club are expecting him to go very soon, and making plans for life without him.

Or it could be attack vs defence?

If you're right Cap, then it's good to see DemPele in a yellow shirt.

Halliche and Baird are defenders, unfortunately.

I was thinking first team attack with second team defence and vice versa

Well Rodgers has admitted interest in Demps and they have enquired. Now either make a deal that suits all or leave it, we don't want a saga on our hands.
