Think you'll find that it is you who don't want anything to do with it, plenty of Welsh people are very passionate about the Olympics, its a great honour to compete in this, as much as any football or rugby world cup that is held

I'm not really bothered by it personally I just hope our players don't get injured but to be fair here the vast majority of people I speak to in person are dead set against team GB for many of the reasons Mabon lists. Not one trusts Blatter or Platini either.

Valley if it was under Y Ddraig goch i would be 1000pc behind it but the union jack does nothing to float my boat and never will i personally don't acknowledge it as i have stated many times on here . it does not even represent my country of birth Wales.

Valley i have great respect for your contributions on here, but if you said that to any football manager or player they would laugh at you, the olympic football tournament is an under 23 tournament. it is no way comparable to the World cup. the olympics maybe but the football tournament in the olympics now come on valley, i like a laugh but thats a rediculous thing to say

The world cup is dedicated to one sport, this is multiple sport competition and is the biggest sporting event in the world. It exceeds the world cup by some margin. But as it's an under 23 event for the football it's not going to have the same appeal as other competitions. I never said that the football in the olympics was larger than for example the world cup, point me to where I said that.

Think you should look at the history of how the union came into effect, we were already a principality when it came into existence. And your country of birth is the UK, there is no such country as Wales as your passport, driving licence or the money in your pocket will confirm

So what's so great about the Olympics if it hands out medals to under 23 year olds rather than the best footballers?

What exactly is the point of this exercise?

The Olympic football has always been about the younger players. You could say what is the point of the world cup, or the premier league ? Try asking the people taking part in what it means to them, maybe something along the lines of the pinnacle of their careers ? This is about the athletes not the politics

I'm English (with a tiny bit of Welsh heritage but that's neither here nor there) and every single person I have spoken to, including several Welsh people, is 100% behind Team GB. Mostly, it seems to be the FAs that are scared of it, and I'm surprised that any fan would be upset about their players getting tournament experience!

    Valey and big hairy

There are many hundreds of thousands of real football supporters throughout these isles who are totally against this team, the majority of people going to see these matches are probably going because its the olympics and may not be regular football fans now not only are the celtic fa's against this but so are the football supporters federations from all 4 countries . A lot of those attending games at the home of Welsh rugby will probably be paying to cross the second severn crossing, there will be plenty of tickets for sale by the looks of it. They have cut the capacity at the stadium by nearly half , what does that tell you

swan and only your proud to be british and you support team gb well good for you, personally i consider myself welsh and welsh only, i have no wish to be thought of as british, and i don't think of myself as british that is my choice , so there is not a great deal to understand really is there.

The point of the World Cup is so that the best international teams in world football can play in what is the biggest football tournament on the planet, to see who is the best team.

That is why the FAW and co are trying not to give FIFA an excuse to merge the british associations, and maybe Wales as an individual footballing nation may get to a world cup and we can all give our nation the support it deserves by unfurling our Y Ddraig goch flags at welsh games, because if some have their way you will be waving the butchers apron at GB home games, i know which one i want

But even if they don't reach a World Cup i will be happy that we still have a football team,

    Spot on. <applause>

As per usual there are some who want to rewrite history and turn the clock back hundreds of years. Usually this is passed on from parents and grandparents in my experience. They feel they speak for 'thousands' and are even in the majority.

    Bollocks.

Wales is a region within the U.K (just like Catalunia in Spain) and anyone else who thinks it'll ever be anything else is just plain wrong. Doesn't make me unpatriotic or not proud of being Welsh. There will never be a public appetite for independence, regardless of what others think.
