Why are Dundee FC going to be playing SPL football next season? They never earned it. What happened to all this sporting integrity? When the sheep were due to be relegated in the 90s they weren't because (correct me if I'm wrong) the top Div 1 club couldn't meet the stadium criteria. Why wasn't the next club down from the winners, who could match the criteria, "invited" to join the SPL?

Maybe the SPL will think the mighty Dundee derby will persuade Sky to offer a good deal <laugh>

    True

But what I was told was that as Rangers weren't relegated the position was open to invites instead of qualifying.....which is just ****

Shouldn't have even been up for debate.

Dunfermline should have replaced us plain and simple, I'm surprised they are taking it on the chin.

'Sporting integrity' is a ****ing nonsense.

As soon as the season kicks off there will be incidents on the pitch that will call into question sporting integrity.

A dive, feign of injury, cynical challenge etc all call into question the sporting integrity of the person(s) involved.

I think the SPL missed a trick, they should've had a play off game between Dunfermline and Dundee

nah - we could have made it interesting

i mean if the rules are basically "we can do what we like" from the sfa we could have had a quick old firm game at half time - you be dunfermline and we'll be dundee - and see how it pans out

Dunfermline were relegated. Why should they be allowed to remain in the SPL?

By that logic why should a team that was never promoted be allowed to join the SPL?

The precedent was set back when Livi went down to the 3rd division through their financial shenanigans. The leagues didn't suspend relegation then and I don't see why they should now.

Aberdeen were relegated (finished bottom anyway) twice in the 90s. Why did they remain in the SPL?

You can't just invite a team you would quite like to have in your league. It's ****ing ridiculous. They finished 2nd ie no promotion

Again - no one was in line to go down if there was a spare slot.
