I like Hobbs, he's a good player, but there's plenty of players on our side that should be captain IMO. Rosenior is a good contender, Koren was captain of Slovenia International Side, Dawson knows the tricks of the game and knows from being here with Ashbee; what a captain should be like. It just seems strange that Hobbs at such a young age has the armband when I see players like Rosenior shouting a hell of a lot more during a game.
As harsh as it sounds, I hope Dawson doesn't get nowhere near as many games this season. Dudgeon has to be given a good run in the team, he's looked great when he's had his chance. So Dawson as captain is a no go for me. Rosenior or Cheerer until Hobbs gets back.
Rosie isn't captain material. Just let him get on with his job. Hobbs when fit, otherwise McKenna or Dawson.
When Hobbs is fit it should be him, if not then Dawson if picked, otherwise Chester should do it as he's going to be in the team every week for years to come.
Someone that will play consistently week in week out (writing off Daws and Mckenna) I can see Bruce giving it Koren of he stays
I don't know if this still happens but I'd have Dawson as 'Club Captain' as it's his testimonial year and I think he deserves that recognition, although I don't think he sould wear the armband on the pitch as he never cut it for me last time. Personally I like one of the CD to be captain as they see more of the game from the positions they take up. I don't think Hobbs put a foot wrong in terms of the captaincy and he's an excellent role model so don't see any reason for him not to keep it when he returns.
Think we should try and get Koren signed on for another couple of years and the captaincy can surely be sweetener?
Isn't Dawson already club captain? Hobbs is captain on the pitch which will probably stay and until he's fit it'll be Dawson if he plays, if not I'd think Koren or who knows, maybe Faye?
Depends on the likely starting 11. If McKenna is going to be starting every week, then i'd maybe give it to him. He is experienced, vocal, and in a position where he can see the game and communicate with everyone. Otherwise, you are probably looking at Rosenior/Koren until Hobbs comes back.
Didn't McKenna say that he didn't want the armband last season? I don't know if that was due to him only just being signed, or if he simply didn't want to be captain?
Hobbs should be kept as the club captain as he was last season because he didn't do anything wrong. If Bruce doesn't want him as captain, the fact he's injured means that there's plenty of time for Bruce to make someone else the team captain. Then when Hobbs comes back he can say he's going to keep the balance as it has been because it worked well having the two of them both being captains. That way Bruce gets to either keep Hobbs in the role, or edge him out with some dignity rather than just stripping him of the role. Same thing with Dawson and the vice-captain role. He shouldn't be stripped of the role going into his testimonial year. If we're going to play 532 I see Dudgeon being the preferred choice due to his extra pace, so again it allows Bruce to pick his own team captain without stripping anybody of their existing roles. In their absence from the team I can only see it being between Faye, McKenna, and Koren (Rosenior having previously said he didn't want it). From those I'd expect it to be Koren.
i would stick with 1)Jack Hobbs 2)Andy Dawson 3)Liam Rosenoir in that pecking order But i think Bruce may just go with someone like Paul McKenna or Robbie Koren. imo
