if your company told you to fund the scheme using cash you wouldnt need to be a financial expert to know something was wrong. <doh>
rangers have caused their own downfall and nobody else. now you can put your head back in the sand. i only hope rangers are stripped of past titles and trophies while this scam..... er sheme was running

The EBT thing was not illegal at the time. The way Rangers used it was found to be illegal. The company had taken advice on it, paying tax lawyers, accountants etc before deciding it could be done then. If a reputable company told me it was OK then I'm not going to question it.

On a smaller scale my work offer childcare vouchers worth thousands a year that are deducted from your salary before tax and NI. My work say that this is a legal scheme to minimise tax and NI contribution and save employees hundreds of pounds a year. Am I going to question that? There are dozens of things like this available to me on a normal salary. Look at what the salaries of people paid millions are able to do to minimise tax.

The biggest question is why, if these were loans, did the administrators not call them in?

    Dog ****er.

    You don't understand do you.
I'm not talking about tax free benefits and salary sacrifice schemes, I'm in one too.
Payments from an Employee Benefit Trust should not be made on a contractual basis, as it would make them part of an employee's salary and subject to tax and National Insurance. HMRC claims that Rangers' EBT scheme was a tax scam as it was contractual.
Don't talk with adults if you cant understand them..........stick to your dogs.....you seem to have a fixation with them

I suspect a few chairmen down Saff will be cacking their breeks, Rangers were the test case and £134 will be chickenfeed compared to some.

That was an estimate from D&P including the tax cases.

Did I blink and miss the verdict on the big tax case?

So they put an "estimated" total on a legal document?

Do you want to have a think about what you typed?

even if it is an estimate medro are their figures not to be trusted? if its included in a cva proposal then we must assume its correct in the circumstances you lose

if you win - happy days (well not really but you know what i mean)

also - could you come back to me on sevcos actual name?

So if HMRC were only actually due £21m or thereabouts then they were not the majority creditors and should not have had 76% of the vote?

Is that what you are suggesting, that someone at D&P got their numbers wrong and HMRC should only have been due about 40 odd percent of the vote?

    Take your time. <ok>

    You are missing the point.

We were liquidated before the big tax case was brought into contention.

As for the business name, I think they have to wait a while to change the name of it.
