Hi, just joined the forum, although I have been reading the forum since the old BBC 606 days. Thought I'd start my fledgling career off by offering a potential signing, KAKA? I know most on here will laugh, but just consider it a moment.... 1. Would be a free or minimal fee buy. 2.high wages would surely be covered by the massive merchandise revenues 3.put qpr firmly on the map 4.one thing Brazilian footballers put above all else is playing for their country, and with the world cup there in 2 years he will be desperate to make the squad. 5.we need cm players! It maybe a stupid dream, but what a dream it would be.........
I like your ambition but i think that the club has to be careful on annual outlay and throwing money away effectively. Our transfer policy has been pretty sound so far and the club will continue in the manner. I for one am happy about this , don't want to end up like pompey.
I think he's be all about the money, and frankly, we're trying to stay up in the Premier League another season, rather than draining the owners of money. The "massive" revenues will be going into a new stadium, a new training ground and better youth facilities. If we could get him to take a huge wage cut however...
No thanks - for one thing, I can't see where he'd make the team any better. Sure he's been a great player (in his day, which to be fair was a few years ago) but we'd be paying a huge wage for someone who would expect to be in the side every week, who would bring imbalance to an already crowded area (I contend that we have enough CM players, what with Faurlin, Derry, Diakite, Park, and the possibly at some point return of Barton) And secondly, with the signing of Park and the revelation of the QPR plane, I think we're probably selling enough shirts at the moment not to need to buy an expensive, aging ex-star simply in boost merchandising revenue in yet another new market.
I'm not talking about giving him the earth, or breaking our wage structure. 60-80k a week plus % of his image rights, 1 year deal with the club having the option of another year. He's about 32 now surely must want 1st action above all else now? And as I'm on the subject of centre mids, ray Wilkins is on a free too. Although after his recent drink driving episode will we have another bad boy on our books?
Cheers goldhawk. I too am very much in favour of youth and potential, but we haven't had a scouting network since 2006. That side of things takes time to set up, hence Mike Rigg coming on board. Also, who are these young players everyone wants because I don't see any out there? Jay Rodriguez cost Southampton £9million, that's how ridiculous buying potential has become in England!!
As for young cm with potential and a great level of ability already, frimpong from arsenal would be perfect in one of the defensive midfield roles. He was a different class for wolves last year before his injury.....
I don't think it will be from England, and why should it be. Not many had heard of Diakite before he came in Jan...
Better still, why not give our own youth players a chance, that's what we all want isn't it? Players coming from our own academy...
Agree, it will take time for the youth academy and scouting network to show dividends. In the meantime, MH has shown at, for example Citeh, that he has the skills to bring in young talent. I'm hoping he'll find one or two more gems like Diakite (although with one eye on squad depletion during ACON)
Kaka? I heard he's ****. But if this was 10 years ago when we had ****tu and Dudu, and probably the worst Rangers team ever, i think he would have been perfect. A collective shower of ****.
to be fair, it did sound better in my head. that's what happens when you grow up playing champ manager 97/98. those were the days when you could sell john spencer, mike sheron, steve slade and trevor sinclair for £25million before the season starts!!!
I think the only time you will see Kaka at Loftus Road is if the cleaners both park their cars side by side.
