Hoilett was due to hold discussions with German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach over the weekend as he weighs up his options. However, it is understood the Canadian*wants to*join the Hoops instead.
Hes like a yappy jack russell going mental but getting ignored. Hmmmm, perhaps hes YappyR too, that would make sense.
Don't get menstrual. As col said I was just disagreeing with you. As I said before its mid july, weâve got time to buy a centre mid and evidence suggest we are out to get one in Ki. Your comments about Faulrin and Diakite again over-complicate things and in any case I disagree with your suggestion that a fit again Faurlin and Diakite wouldnât work together. Your point about Faulrin needing an enforcer alongside him misses two important points. Firstly he is actually was our best and arguably the premierships best enforcer last season. At the time of his injury he was the premierships highest tackler by some distance with highest success rate. A great strength of his was making a tackle and then making a pass. Secondly Diakite bulldozing around covering loads of ground and smashing through centre mids like they werenât there last season is exactly the player you say that Faulin needs. The most telling point about your posts is that you are massively risk averse. You donât accept that a player like Hoilett strength is attacking and would leave the left back less exposed than a harder working and less creative player. You also seem overly concerned about Diakite going on runs and leaving holes. The rest of the team will do what they can to cover on occasions he loses the ball but you have to accept risk in football. And players like Faulrin, and JSP will be very capable of plugging any gaps that arise. With the side that Hughes is putting together he will be able to field a very strong and balanced side with a very strong bench to bring in when players go missing. Hoilett is part of that. Not every wide player has to be a James Milner style workhorse. Trust Hughes and his backroom team. Imâm sure they know a lot more about tactics than you or I or anyone else on this board.
Faurlin either had the most tackles or had the best tackle rate in the PL when he got injured. While her may not be a hard man, he is very effective at breaking up the other teams play.
I wouldn't necessarily call him an out and out tackler (say like Scott Parker) but I think he doesn't mind getting stuck in and I'd bet a lot of tackles are actually interceptions because he reads the game well and puts himself in the right position to make most challenges about 70:30 in his favour.
He also wins loads of header but the fact is he get us the ball in all kinds of ways and while hes not a destroyer like derry, I think he play play alongside a Diakite or attacking player no problem.
The beauty of Faurlin and Diakite is that they can both play aswell as break up play. I think they will complement each other, both are comfortable on the ball and can put their foot in. They will enable us to play 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1. Away from home i could see and extra player going in there with the pair of them, who that will be i wouldn't have a clue , i can't see Derry getting much pitch time this year.
His role is something similar to that of Xabi Alonso IMO - he plays deep but a lot of what he does is centred around ball retention. Ale's not as good a passer but does get stuck in more but that's still how I see him. I just really hope he is back for the start of the season. I do also think that him staying deep allows Diakite more reign to cover as much ground as he can (in a traditional box to box midfielder sense).
@IJTaylor81: Tomorrow we travel to Kuala Lumpur at 8am. The press team are going early cos there's something big happening! #AsiaTour #QPR
